And can find it difficult to rent property etc. Most will take a photo driving license though for ID purposes.
Cannot see what OP is getting worried about.
It's probably not much of an issue if it is a UK company. But the OP did give the impression that it was a foreign company.
Any companies who have to do security checks will accept a number of different forms of ID. At the end of the day, there is no legal requirement to have a passport or driving license if you don't need them.0 -
OP - this is like a game of 20 questions!
Why does this third party need your details when the trading relationship is company to company?
Your employer should simply be able to provide a guarantee of your suitability as part of your role and not share your personal details.
You need to be specific - why the need - legislation, corporate contract, whim of a manager or what?
Basically, we are only guessing because you only have a partial story - you need to ask for the reasoning in writing as soon as!:hello:0 -

I still can't see why the oP cannot just email the amount that is going to come in the package.0

If you read the match betting sub forum you will find providing Passport, drivers license and utility bills to gaming companies is often an absolute requirement in order to prove your identity. In lots of cases its also a regulatory requirement. To be fair to the company, most letting agents, solicitors, storage cos etc etc will want to see a passport before doing business with you.You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

There are plenty of companies who will carry out these checks, Disclosure Scotland are just one of many.
If you are self employed then you hold the certificate. And then any companies who you are contracted to, and who require it, can take a copy. Then they can actually verify that it is genuine.
Do you not realise that Disclosure Scotland does not do, to use your terminology, CRB checks? They are not DBS checks, only The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) carry out such checks. Only the Criminal Records Bureau provided CRB checks.0 -

is there a law about this?
I believe that you should indeed be able to refuse - after all it's your data and you can decide who has access to it. Whether refusing will enhance your job prospects or not is a subject for another discussion however ...0 -
Any sort of criminal record check is only good for the moment it is written. Anyone could be arrested/convicted within seconds of it being printed. Sorry have other useful advice on the articular situation in hand.0

Actually Disclosure Scotland does use CRB. I think what you are getting confused with is the two levels of checks that are available. There is a Basic, and a Full disclosure. They both use CRB to carry out the checks, but the full just goes into more detail.0
