I have 3 children and for the past 5 years I have travelled by public transport for over an hour each way. My shifts can start at 7am and finish at 10.

I dont see the issue here?

Neither do I and I would say its very unlikely 30 minutes would be deemed to far to move and as such redundancy wouldn't apply.

But like anything get proper advice!

30 minutes !. You are lucky. I travel 18 miles to work & it takes me 35 - 45 minutes depending on traffic.

Even if you had been there 2 years, redundancy would only be a couple of weeks wages.

    Depends what you earn.

2 years redundancy for me was not a sum to be sniffed at. And I wasn't even let go - I walked.

OP, while the new travelling time is really not worth arguing, the fact that you were excluded from consultation may be. Who
else wasn't consulted? If it's only the woman on maternity, seems like discrimination on a protected characteristic to me.
Opinion, advice and information are different things. Don't be surprised if you receive all 3 in response. :D
