Would be grateful for any advice please.
I have virgin ISP.with a Belkin router that has worked fine for a few year now.
Yesterday evening my laptop stopped working 99% of the time by wireless although our phones picked up wifi no problem.
The laptop works fine wired to the modem.
Today the phones only sometimes pick up the wifi and the laptop not at all.
Virgin have said there is not a problem with the service to me and that I don't have a virgin hub.
I have tried resetting the modem and tried manually connecting the laptop to the router
Any suggestions on what else I can do please?

Are you able to pick up any wifi signals on your laptop?0
-
The signal on the task bar says connected and sometimes says limited access.
When I try to access the Internet the page says either page not available or unable to connect to the Internet.sometimes there is a yellow triangle through the task bAr wifi signal other times there isn't
I have ran a full system security scan and cc cleaner just I case there was a problem but came up clear0 -
Change the wireless channel on the router. There could be a new neighbouring router running on the same channel. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks macman. How do I do this? The wifi is working now on my phone but not on the laptop0

i have connected the modem to the router in the yellow box as it advises , then a cable from laptop to router. then typed 192.168.2.1/ this gets me into my belkin account.
i am on channel 6, so i change it to channel 11 and try to save, i then get the webpage is not available, it took too long to load or check your internet connection.
what am i doing wrong?0 -
Hi
Had the same problem with sons not connecting to wireless. He too had Belkin trying to connect to wireless.
As you say your laptop works fine connecting to modem connect to modem
Go to device Manager,Click network adapter, then click Belkin,Right click and select update driver.
Hope that helps0 -
same questions from few days ago lol
heres post i done 3days ago
if you have a smartphone you can get an app to scan the wifi channels and who is on what alot of routers are set up on a preset channel like netgear routers with sky as one example are set up on channel 6. the range of channels are 1-14.
i would suggest you are on a congested channel and if lots of routers/networks on the same channel they are all fighting for the same space frequency it just may be your laptop has a weaker power on the wifi so can't compete.
anyway the solution is to use the app on the smartphone to see who is on what channels and find a quiet channel less users therefore you laptop hasn't got to compete for its information. I had this issue with my laptops my wife's was fine but mine kept dropping out from the router in the end channel 13 was the quietest where i live and i have never ever had a dropout since 5years clear!
wifi anayler app for your phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...YW5hbHl6ZXIiXQ..
once you have found which is the quietest channel you then need to set this in your router.
to access your router most have numbers on the bottom with user name and password on the sticker underneath.
in your browser address bar need to type some thing like http://192.168.0.1/
but this address above can vary from router to router.
but user name and password will need to be typed in afterwards as a window will pop up asking for them normally the info on the bottom of the router from there you will need find wireless settings tab you then change the channel and click apply or set before it changes then leave.
now should be able to restart your machine and should be ok on new channel without drop outs also remember to check different times for with wifi anayler app to see who is on at different times as remember some people will be on at the morning and may get aload more in the evening after people have come home in the evening.
hope it helps basil0 -
thanks devon scouse doesnt say belkin it says broadcom43/3.82 or microsoft virtual wifi, both device drivers are up to date,
i reset the belkin router and started working again, but now its not working again0 -
jhe you not listening its the channel change it to a more free one or you will get it then it drop out next time and so on and so on you get it now?????????
or is it beyond you changing it?0 -
Have you tried changing the channel? You need to connect your laptop to the router with the cable. Then in web browser address bar type in 192.168.2.1 and enter your account. And make sure your Ethernet device is enabled first.0
