NTL Freedom through BT line

Options
I am interested in the NTL freedom offer - you pay £15.00 for 24/7 internet access and NTL also gives you £15 worth of free phone calls. There phone calls are the 321 tariff

Has anyone got any info on this before I enroll.

I cancelled mine last month. It is a great offer especially if you use the £15 of phone calls however they have a problem with routing to some websites which leads to DNS errors. It didn't bother me much when it was just the odd site here and there that was affected but then it started happening on my own websites. It also stopped email and ftp from working on those sites. This lead to many reconnections until I got an IP range that worked properly. I reported the problem to NTL over six months ago but a web search shows it has been ongoing for much longer. I emailed them to ask for an update before I cancelled and they said there was no new information on the problem. Six months+ is too long for a problem like that to go on so they are either unable/unwilling to fix it or don't see it as a serious issue.

I've been with them for several years and had no problems. I had to leave because they didn't do IPStream broadband but I would have taken their broadband classic if I could have - It has a similar '£15 for the broadband and £15 worth of calls' deal.
  • Do you have any details of this deal, can't seem to find it on their website

I've been using it for years - in fact I'm using it now! It's generally been trouble free - with just the odd hiccup. Now and again you get a dropped line - but very occasionally. The best way I've found of using their service is by use the £15 of telephone credit to the best advantage by storing their access number and using it for each call rather than going through their router box, 0845/0870 calls are the same cost as BT, so I make sure they all route over NTL - and when I'm getting close to £15 (easily checked via home page link to 'my account'), I start using 18866 who I also use for mobile and international calls unless you've call credit from your £15. I spend a huge amount of time on the internet and the phone - and it costs me hardly anything.

Oh - I've always had a back-up of onetel dial-up and I've used it twice in the last year!
