One week visit to London

I will be travelling to London for one week in late May. I fly into Heathrow and my hotel is fairly central. During the week I will of course wish to travel around the city to various attractions, including visits to Chelsea Flower Show.
Any advice on best type of travel pass and can this be purchased on arrival at Heathrow (I intend using the tube into the City, not the Heathrow Express).

You can buy a zone 1-2 weekly travelcard at Heathrow underground station. Get it on an Oyster card and ask for £10 credit to be loaded. The credit is needed to go outside zones 1 and 2 (central zones). Heathrow is Zone 6, so the journey into London will use some of that credit, either £2.70 morning/evening peak, or £1.50 otherwise.
The cost will be:
£30.40 for the travelcard
£5 deposit for the Oystercard
£10 for the credit
When you return to Heathrow you can get the £5 deposit, and any remaining credit of the £10, refunded if you wish (the £30.40 travelcard cost will be used up, obviously), or keep it for a future visit (the credit doesn't expire).
A zone map of the underground is here

You will be covered for zones 1 + 2.0 -

I would suggest she googles visitor attractions in London she will be able to see what is on offer. There are plenty of museums, galleries etc plus all the big London attractions like Tower of London, London Eye etc etc.0 -

Thanks for the link. I bought my Chelsea Flower Show tickets as soon as they came on line late last year. I am a member of RHS.0 -
What is your budget?
There is SO MUCH to do and see that is completely free!
- The changing of the guard outside Buckingham Palace is a MUST SEE
- Hyde Park (if you get there early enough you can get a "Boris Bike" to cycle round in) which is just gorgeous and MASSIVE and has plenty to see such as memorial gardens
- Westminster is great because everything is so close together (Big Ben and Houses of Parliament obviously but there is a square next door where there are always peaceful protesters, a Nelson Mandela statue, Westminster Abbey) and its a good place to see the London Eye from a distance.
- Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, you can also see part of the financial district from here and a great view down the Thames.
- Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery (with Van Gogh and Monet paintings etc)
The lions are made from melted cannons used in the battle of Trafalgar. Amazing, right?
- Camden is a great place to wander round and buy tourist gifts for those at home. And some GREAT food. But you can have a good time just walking through and not shopping!
I've grouped closely located places together.
There are loads of free museums and galleries dotted around the city too.
Some have DINOSAURS!
Please do donate a small amount if you can though; it's polite.
And finally, things you might not think of:
If you like football there are plenty of big name clubs based in London with impressive stadiums that are worth visiting if you're a fan.
Abbey Road for a Beatles fan.
Banksy graffiti can be found but typically in hard to get to places.
Note: you can use your Oyster cards on buses! Why pay over the odds for a bus tour? Get on a real London bus!Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards.
