As were converting garage & rebuilding existing extension (is single skim with no dpc), its already at PD.

Neighbour has front of their house facing my garden (think sideways house) & said if we built to wrap around we would impact on their light. Forget the fact we have no privacy in our garden & the fact their blinds are down all the time!!.

Been fighting for ages with council, they got the resources, we don't have the time or money to wait anymore, so retracted. Sad thing not moved in yet & neighbour said they were ok with everything as long as we didn't do double story extension, went into the loft instead, but they still went behind our backs to council :(.

Can't utilise utility room, as need space for wet room due to disability & want storage space for big white goods away from kitchen, as its not going to be as big as we wanted.
No one said it was gonna be easy!

Yep seen it & despite the 45/65 degree test, the council refused to listen to anything we were trying to put forward, saying we should not be allowed to roughshod over our neighbours with the wrap around.

This despite the blinds being down & a boundary wall that comes 80% to their window effectively blocking all light anyway. I know the right to light law is also under scrutiny, think they might get rid of it, but not in time for me :(.

If i was a roughshod neighbour I could build up the wall its currently 1.8m to 2m see how they like that, nothing the council could do as its my wall!!

some councils have already done away with it, there is a 2 story extention in Hamble (under Eastleigh Council), the council refused permission as it would be 6 inches away from the neighbours window, the builder went to Hampshire County Council & after a court hearing it was given permission, i know that doesn't help you now but it just goes to prove it can be done
