In the space of a day I have bought new running shoes and signed up for a half marathon in Glasgow! I was going to sign up for the 10k but I thought I may as well go for it as I ran a 10k a few years back without trouble (I was 16 and active, I am not showing off!)

Have your times improved Mat ? using the new method.

    Sorry just seen this.

Ironically my times have gotten worse, but I'm running further. Running 7/8 miles now whereas before I only ever managed to get to 6.2 (a 10k) and that was a push.

Before Christmas I was doing a lot of interval runs, whereas this time I've been sticking mainly to distance runs to get my fitness back up. Just starting to do intervals and hill reps again now.

I'm now averaging 9:40 - 10:00 per mile when I do a steady run, whereas before Christmas I was doing 9:15.. so getting there slowly.

I prefer to trail run now as it's much more interesting than the road and easier on the legs and feet too.
    What will your verse be?

Excited to find this thread! I did a walking marathon earlier this month and loved feeling fit so have decided to take up running and see if I can't become "properly" fit. I have just started couch to 5k and holy moly running is hard!!! I feel good for it though so bring it on!

Good for you Echo you will enjoy. Of all my sports, running has been the most rewarding, lots of comradeship and respect. Still meet people in my town that I ran with
years ago....instant rapport. Shared pain probably...lol.

It does get easier, trust me!!

I used to just run similar routes constantly but I now do a mix of hills, sprinting, intervals and distance.

Did 10 miles on Friday :D

I just started week 3 of C25K. "Running" (I use the term loosely....) 3 minutes at a time. So far so good! Obviously got a long way to go.

I boldly entered a 5k in July and a 10k in November. I'm better when I have things to aim for.

My Race for Life 5k is coming up this time next month. Started the C25K app a few weeks ago but couldn't get into it :( Found a begginer to 5k in 4 weeks programme, so trying to stick with that. Ran 2.5k in 20mins (plus 5 min walking break) on the treadmill yesterday. It wasn't as terrible as I thought! :)
