I used to work for ScottishPower and all their capped price rates are penalty free so you can transfer. It was british/scottish gas that had penalties if you left before the end of the capped rate deal.

Quite funny reading the emails at the top from SP as i recognise some of the names that replied

Usually when people tried to do things like this before it goes through as a new application and as you are already with SP the transfer would be cancelled as you are already on supply with them.

This is because you can transfer to any different tariff by either calling the provider or doing it on their own website.
