There is something wrong here !!
for comparison..me,2 bed mid terrace (modern),heating/hot water and cooking by gas using a 33 year old CF bog standard wall boiler..total dd for gas and elec per month ..about £55Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
I've just checked my gas meter, to the left of the meter reading it says M3. Stupid question, does this mean that my meter is a metric meter? if it does it means that Scottish Power have been working my bills out incorrectly as they have been using the calculation to convert my meter reading from imperial to metric.0

it says M3
That is a metric meter.
To convert cu mtrs to kWh you multiply 660 by 39.6 times 1.02264 then divide by 3.6 which give 7424 kWh.
You have been charged about 3 times what you should have been charged.Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -
I am so looking forward to making that phone call to Scottish Power in the morning
I'll let you know what happens tomorrow0 -

Based on 660 cu m used (as opposed to 100's cu ft), that is 7,499kWh, rather than 20,745kWh. The factor is approx 2.83. So your billing for that period should be nearer to £300.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

It begs the question: did you sign up with SP yourself or did you inherit them from the previous tenant? If it's the latter maybe the SP rep should also look at whether the previous tenant was also paying 300% too much and rectify the situation?0

I inherited my supply from the previous tenant. I will be letting the letting agents know what the outcome is.
I have also emailed David at Scottish Power with all of the details.
Thanks again guys; you get a point in life sometimes when you think you are going barmy. It's thanks to you guys that you realise that it may not be you that is going mad!0 -

Blimey. Could it be that SP have been getting 300% more than they should since they commenced charging there? If so, I genuinely would request a commitment from the SP Rep that they are taking steps to locate previous occupiers to issue appropriate refunds. No expert on the legal side, but couldn't this be classed as unlawful charging if it was subsequently discovered to be erroneous billing by SP and refunds not issued?0 -
Having had a look at Matts Mum's case I can say that we did have an imperial meter on record. The most likely cause of this is an incorrect meter configuration being used when putting the meter on the record. But I have asked for some more info to check if there has been a meter change.
Either way I will be going back to fix the record at the point of error.
