What is reasonable amount to leave in Paypal account?

Thank you all for the input. I wasn't talking such large amounts! My amount is peanuts compared to yours! But I get the message - I will start to clear the paypal account on a weekly basis and leave a tiny amount there.0

Are people saying that if you get a chargeback on an empty paypal, they won't just take the money by DD from your bank (assuming you have one set up)?
I always empty my paypal after someone pays me since I only sell 2-3 items a week, because I want to use my card for my own purchases. Paypal/ebay tends to be more helpful on purchases funded by card as opposed to paypal balance - as they'd rather avoid a chargeback despite reports of chargebacks being unsuccessful..0 -
I dont sell a huge amount just 'having a clear out' but I try and leave about £40 in there (probably about 1/3 of my monthly income from it) for stuff I want to buy and for when my fees are paid. The rest I spend on e-bay or transfer to my bank. If the £40 is still there the next month I get pizza :-)[STRIKE]£2200[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£1950[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1850[/STRIKE] £1600 on my credit card

They don't seem to, and would not take it from a card either."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

If you sell 5k a day, then leaving £100 is pointless.
But sell £20 and leave £100 could also be wrong.
I dont understand your final sentence, sorry.
Surely even selling £5k a day £100 would be enough??
How many chargebacks/returns do people selling on ebay get???"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

There is no right or wrong, it's what you yourself feel is the correct amount, if any at all.
But for me £100 would be nowhere near enough as that wouldn't cover one chargeback. So completely pointless, for me.
This scenario I was talking about meant that all listings were ended, the fallout were buyers panicking. Several chargebacks went in simultaneously.
In normal circumstances that is unlikely to happen. But having said that, the fallout from the notices ebay sent recently and the ending of several thousands of listings (myself included) could have prompted the same. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/45081450 -
I tend to keep a few hundred in my paypal for ebay fees and purchases but always transfer majority in to bank account for peace of mind.0

I leave enough to cover any fees I know are coming up in the next week or so and enough to cover any parcels that I have recently sent in case of an inr case.
The rest is withdrawn normally on a weekly basis depending on how busy I've been with sales.
I must do some listing things have been flying out again and i'm running low on listings. Thinking the postal increases have something to do with it as i'm using a blanket 2.99 charge which is a lot less than some of my competitors who are still using royal mail.0
