Just spoke to my friend and he used weebly.com From what he told me it works on similar basis to the one I mentioned before but it may have different templates so it gives you more choice.

Good luck with your website.. Have fun creating it :P

Hi, you can do that as well with the same website I mentioned before (WEBSdotCOM). You have everything included in there so you don't have to buy your domain name and hosting from two different places. Plus, they have a website builder that you can use to create your website so you don't need to pay silly money to anyone to do it for you.

There are different packages available - free, for personal use, small businesses, and pro. For your website I'd go for the small business package (also called Enhanced on that website) as it has good features and is for professional purposes. It's not too expensive if you pay for 1 or 2 years straight.

And finally, the good thing about that website is that you can start off for free. Sign up, check out the templates, try to create your website and see if you like it. Then you can upgrade to the enhanced package at any time and have your web address without any extra words. I've just been on there and they have an offer on the enhanced package as it's the most popular one. My friend has a business website made with that type of tool. It looks great and he pays little money for it. I'll also ask my friend which website he used to create his and let you know.

Hope this helps a little.. Good luck!

Do you have anything to do with the site you mention?

Forgive me if I'm way off the mark but the fact you are new to this site and are gushing about the website you mention sets alarm bells ringing. You seem to know an awful lot about this particular site.

There are plenty of "free" website companies out there but you are recommending the OP chooses an option which they would have to pay for :(

Well I am a fan of webs.com, and I have been a member of this site longer than you with a greater number of postings......no alarm bells??

Vicky23 made a clear and full posting answering the OP question.

The way I done it is set up my domain hosting on hostgator (baby croc plan - good for beginners/intermediate) then bought my domain from godaddy. If you go down this route (separate domain registration and hosting services) then you need to take the nameserver addresses you get from your hosting account (hostgator in this case) and put them into your godaddy domain name so you are telling your domain registrar where your site is so they can link it up.

Next in hostgator you can set up a wordpress.org site (note not a wordpress.com blog) with only a few clicks of a button; this is why I lik hostgator so much - easy to set up Wordpress sites. The .org is a complete website where you can have your very own domain name whereas .com wordpress is just a blog that you don't host.

You can get tons of plug ins for wordpress to set your site up like a shopping site or whatever you want. Do research before you buy though and know what it is you want.

Here's one of my sites using goinggreen wordpress theme:

    yourhealthandvitality.com

Mine looks mainly like a blog but you can set wordpress up like a site with paid for themes/plugins

Sorry, I did mention in my first post in this thread that I used that website myself in the past. That's how I know about it a lot.. And I recommended the enhanced package, which unfortunately isn't free, just because it's for businesses so it offers good features and allows you to have a proper domain without any unnecessary words as Hello123 wants. Anything I'd recommend would have to be paid for anyway as getting a website up and running is not free..

    Apologies then. :o

I have seen far too many spam posts on this forum from "new" members promoting their own sites / products and they seem to get away with it!

This is not a competition. Tut tut.

Seeing as you have made a large number of posts on this forum I would have thought you would have a greater understanding of the whole point of MSE - for impartial advice - NOT self promotion.

I have seen plenty of posts from mods along these lines but many more posts from people using MSE for their own gain.

Agree with the above that 123-reg are fine for domain names. You often find with some cheaper looking companies you will be hit up with hidden charges when ever you want to do something. That said I was very unimpressed with 123-reg for web hosting as our site kept disappearing and their customer service was very difficult to contact and not that helpful.

If you are hosting your own site, then you will need web hosting, if you are hoping to sell things, it may need to have a security certificate.

If you are looking to start a business, as suggested above, I would contact a professional as while it is possible to do all the above on your own you are not giving your business the best start if you are trying to both get that off the ground whilst juggling trying to learn things about websites. If you shop around and get several quotes you should find its not as expensive as you might think.

Weeby sites are quite poor in so far as being picked up by google, if thats a hope with the business, as well as not looking that profesional judging from the ones I've looked at. Though maybe I've just not seen the best examples?

I'd also avoid that 1&1 service you see advertised on the TV quite a bit. A colleague of mine singed up for it and then had to hire someone to set it up for him, while still paying the yearly contracted fee to 1&1 - we had a site built that was better than what he has and it cost us significantly less.
