Playpen

Options
Pl can somebody recommend a playpen for a 6 months baby? The one I have in mind is Chicco Open Country Playpen at Argos but am not sure what is the maximum weight it can hold, also if baby is heavy whether the floor mattress in the middle will have a dent as it is only wheels, not keen on that prefer it to be on the floor. Thanks

I had the BabyDan playpen, it goes on the floor with a mat that fits inside

It also has the benefit of being able to make it into different shapes so you can use it to fence off areas you don't want baby going, I used it to fence of the bottom of my stairs because I couldn't have a stair gate and used it to section off parts of the garden I didn't want baby to go in.

I also used the mat under the paddling pool in the summer to make it nice and soft.

I would also recommend the babydan playpen. It's really sturdy and being able to change the shape was really useful at times.

We had 2 babaydans that we joined together to fence the twins off from the open plan kitchen. Never used the matress. We are still using 3 bits of one to keep them out of the office when dad is on the phone to work any they are 5.

Babydan. Still using one as a fire guard (great for drying washing on!). Comes with a thick padded mat which is washable :D

They're sectional so can be used afterwards for different things eg fireguard etc

Ideal for the garden as well.

Try ebay or local free ads as they're reasonably indestructible so tend to get sold on.

Measures 90 cm in diameter when assembled according to that site. Strangely even the babydan site doesn't seem to give the width.

Can't confirm size as ours is the fireguard shape at the moment. Not overly huge though, enough to keep babies safe(or christmas trees/puppies/fence off the tv etc...;))

It's a little bigger that the Chicco, only about 25cms when assembled in a hexagon, if that's too big you could always make it onto a pentagon, that would be smaller than the Chicco.

I use a travel cot. Dual purpose innit. My one (Mothercare Sleepwalker) sits directly on the floor, not on legs.
