Keeping a previous email address and changing to a new ISP

...is to bite the bullet and get a domain name. This will give you email forwarding so you hand out your new domain email address and have all the email sent on to your current email address...
...You also get a catch-all forwarding address so you can give all your services (banks, shopping sites, whatever) their own unique email address. If you start getting spam address through one of these, you know who is flogging off your email address to the spammers...
It also means you don't have to give them (banks, forums, etc.) your personal email address.

Anyone have any hints re email when moving from AOL to Virgin? Could I still sign on to aol.co.uk after I cancel my subscription?
I was going to change my email address but worry that I may forget to inform everyone I need to.0 -

Don't suppose anyone knows whether this is also true for Demon? Really would like to keep my address without paying 12/month for the limited privilege.0

Yes. You can also use Outlook Express if you want. You will need to change your account to a 'pay as you go' one and dial in every so-often to keep the account active.
Just to update this for anyone thinking of leaving AOL broadband.
I have cancelled after 9 years (how's that for inertia!) The lady did suggest a dial up account which I refused. Was than told I could still use my old email address by registering my email address for an email only account. Apparantly free and ''as a former AOL Member, your AOL email will be forwarded to this new account for as long as you keep using it'' All I had to do was log in to aol.co.uk after cancelling my subscription and the option to register came up automatically.0
