The trouble with air travel today is the bloody cabin baggage, some people take 'steamer trunks' and as a result disembarking takes for ever. The nearer to the front the quicker you are off, are Easy Jet quicker boarding seats worthwhile - NO, IMHO.

It depends on whether you have hand luggage or checked luggage.

If you have checked luggage there's no benefit in paying for speedy boarding now that they have seat numbers, if you have hand luggage only you have the benefit of definitely being able to get your case in the overhead locker if you speedy board and it does away with the risk of being forced to have your luggage being put in the hold when the locker space runs out.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear

If you are travelling alone then I would say no. If you have children with you then maybe.

Of course the more people who choose speedy boarding, the less effective it is.

I recall turning up at Athens Airport for an Easyjet flight
The queues for the normal checkin desks was snaking throughout the area, there was a lonely man sat behind the Speedy checkin desk with nothing to do - best €6 I ever spent :)
  • You can't get easyJet speedy boarding any more without paying for an upfront seat. The upfront seats IMO are worth it, but only when travelling cabin baggage only.

As OTB says, this extra is no longer offered, unless it's part of prebooking certain seats. Aside from that, whether a certain service is worth it to you is really a question no one can answer except yourself.

I need assisted boarding due to mobility difficulties. I was advised by a friend that I needed to book 'Speedy' boarding too, as those passengers were allowed on first, assisted went on second. She was correct at Gatwick - a bit of a scrum even with the limited numbers.

    From the Easyjet website:
    http://easyjet.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5575

No, you can no longer purchase Speedy Borading separately However, passengers who:
    • have a Flexi ticket
    • are an easyJet Plus! cardholder, or
    • have paid to select either an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat
will still benefit from dedicated check-in and will be able to use Speedy Boarding to be among the first to board the aircraft. .

I would add that if you are driven out on a bus to the plane it is certainly a waste of money. You will be first onto the bus but then all of the people getting on after you are near the doors and likely to be first onto the plane.

    OP
what is the reason you are considering 'speedy boarding'?

You can check-in on-line and your seats are allocated for you so it's not a free-for-all for seats.

I can understand mickey234's point about hand luggage possibly being put in the hold if you are among the last to board and the overhead bins are full, but it depends how big your hand luggage is.

On our first flight with Easyjet (coming up soon) we are taking hold luggage (as that comes included in our holiday package) so our hand luggage will be small enough to go under the seats in front.
