We've had really good luck with Fiats. My Seicento lasted 130 000 miles, and would still be running today if some prat in a Picasso hadn't used it for target practice. Over the years it needed a new handbrake, head gasket change and a new radiator. Not bad going for a £350 car.
Just replaced it with an 04 Panda, which is amazing, not least because it's not the Corsa I was given as a courtesy car!0
