Don't be disheartend, you'd be better to try Tesco rather than Asda, Tesco have a national policy where they will take one of each coupon if you haven't purchased the product and 2 if you have. There is the odd store that may be fussy with this policy but usually if you're persistant they will give in. None of my local Asdas will take coupons particularly at the self scan, so I don't bother. I know Tesco will happily take them all. Also I perefer to go to a cashier, then you have less embarrassment with them opening up the self scan etc, as you can just ask the cashier to take the coupons, much easier. HTH you and don't give up, you will soon be very addicted to saving the pennies!
Thanks
I wasnt as nervous as I thought I would be but I think I would be if I got rejected again with people waiting behind me. Where can I get a hold of this policy does anyone have it written. I mean do you hand over lots and lots of coupons worth lots of money say £10 off your shopping or would that be too much at the one time. I didnt really know what to say when she said you cant use them unless you have bought the product.
I am addicted to saving money already as I have to really with having the wee man he is 5 weeks old now and sooo gorgeous just like his daddy0 -
Mrs T, (you're not THE Mrs T are you? I thought your pension'd have been well big enough without the need for frequenting MSE :rotfl: as manda says, cross that one off your list and move on.
I often, when off out for the day, consult my store finder and look for wheichever tesco/waitrose/asdas are in the area. I happily walk in them and try a shop. if I get knocked back, they dont know me, and I just say fine, void the shopping off, if they take em bingo! Don't be disheartened. I went in one tesco on the way to a hol last yr, and girl refused ONE coupon, called supervisor, who said, when i showed him the tesco HO e mail about coupon acceptance "Never heard of that; we dont do it here"
On way home was armed with coupons as there'd been 3 big value ones in daily mail that week and so many kind people had left their copies lying around and me being so tidy, I had to take them away.
Called at same tesco, some 4 days later and young girl happily scanned all the coupons!!
Mind boggling, but there you go.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I suppose I could say I was theee MRS T but sadly my bank balance is a lot less than theee mrs t im sure. Do you have a copy of that policy, I would be very appreciative if you could send me a copy.
Do you really ask them do void all the shopping off and take it back if they do not accept your coupons???0 -
Aw dear ! I wouldn't use the self scan for coupons in Asda, they seem really strict on coupon use/abuse on there. But, I've used coupons lots of times in Asda at the tills, their policy is upto 10% of your bill in MOcs if you haven't bought the products, so thats what I do....usually slightly over cos the SA's don't seem to notice if its just over 10% :T . I always ask if I can use coupons, and mention that I don't normally shop in a different supermarket chain - the rivalry seems to help and they can't wait to tell me I can use coupons with them !
Tescos is a different kettle of fish ! Totally depends on which sales assistant you get - some won't take any Mocs, some will allow 10%, 30 %, one of each, as many as you want...take your pick !
Anyhoo - back on topic - I was in WH Smith last night looking for stray P&B magazines and asked the SA - she back-ordered 3 for me at no extra cost. They are going to ring me when they arrive and I can collect them.....just praying they have the coupon insert with them !
thanks avstar I think I will ask first if they accept the coupons b4 i start my shopping if you think thats best. I suppose I cant give up after the 1st hurdle.
I too ordered a back copy of the P & B magazine I am just hoping also they have the coupons in them. I only ordered one just to see there no point in ordering more if they havent. I cant find the post where someone posted how much coupons there was again. Anyone remember??0 -

You're welcome !
I think the P&B coupons came to £13 off the top of my head, I remember thinking it was over £10 profit as the mag costs £2.70.0 -
Re: the free Estee Lauder mascara w/Glamour magazine
I just bought this, and in small print at the bottom of the card for the mascara, it says you can get the free mascara FOLLOWING a free makeover. I have no interest in a makeover; do you know if you can get the mascara without all the rest?
Hiya, yes you can. I didn't have a makeover. Infact, I wasn't offered one! I just handed over the voucher to SA (in Debenhams) and she gave me the free mascara:D0 -
Gorgeous baby Mrs T!!!:D
I was like you a few months ago, not knowing how many coupons to hand over etc:rolleyes:
I rang around my local stores to find out what their local policies were and found 2 Tescos that accept unlimited coupons as long as they are all different and NSS.
I then started off handing over just 5/6 until my confidence grew... now I hand over loads!!! You get to know which SA's are happy scanners and which ones frown upon it; so just do a few regular small shops at first until you suss out who's who IYSWIM;)If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
