O/S Daily Monday 15th April 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All
Back to school today! Have made my packed lunch and got everything ready, just need to get there now. After a slow start I have quite enjoyed being off and will miss my morning swim, will have to go on my way home now.
After swimming with DD we went through to Edinburgh to see DS2, he has been away working and then to France for a holiday but him and his GF got food poisoning on the last night and have been quite poorly, he certainly has lost weight. Still, he ate a good lunch yesterday and we had a good wander round, really enjoyed it and the sun came out too although it was a tad windy!
Hoping the part for the hoover arrives today as it needs a good run round, also hoping to hear from the chimney folk.
Hope you all have a good week, take care. XX0 -

Morning
Mild and bright here :j
Off to work in a minute, hope its better than Saturday, had an awful woman shouting at me because she couldn't get what she wanted when she wanted it , I'm reporting it to the bosses this morning , why people have to be so rude I have no idea:(
Took dd1 to uni yesterday, so feeling a bit deflated, but she's fine so it's all good, she won't be home till June now as she is revising for her exams, we will travel down to see her a couple of times .
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Cloudy and dry but sun trying to put in an appearance, cooler than yesterday but still quite blustery, so have put washing out on the line.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Lunch yesterday was very nice, the chicken roasted well, as did the roast potatoes and the yorkshire puds rose beautifully - but had to bin the yorkshire puds tin as the non stick coating is blistering, took a couple of the puds out and they had the non stick coating stuck on the bottom, I don't ever try to use a knife or anything to get them out as I can nornally just pick them up out of the tray so I have no idea why this has started to happen. I'm a bit disappointed really as it wasn't a cheap tray either. Will get a new one asap. LO HM cheesecake for dessert.
Dinner tonight will be pasta, in a creamy mascarpone tomato sauce with smoked sausage and mushrooms. This will use up the remaining mascarpone cheese that normally I would have thrown away as I wouldn't know what to do with it. It's the remainder of the packet that I bought to make the cheesecake for Saturday night dinner at my mum's.
Yesterday we got up reasonably early and went to the caravan storage and gave the van a good wash, DH did majority of the washing of the outside whilst I was inside, giving it a good clean, then I checked all the cupboards and made a list of what supplies we have and what we need. I try to stock us up before the season get's underway then just replace things as they are used. It all looked lovely by the time we were finished, so that's all sorted, next weekend we will get the chairs etc out from the loft and put them into the car and then we will drop them in to the caravan too, then we organised for when we next go away which is in May.
Back to school today for the boys, much to their disgust they have had to get up, get brekkie etc and get dressed in good time this morning! Work for me too, another Manic Monday but it does make the day go quickly, and I'm off next week as my bathroom re-fit is starting on Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Hi all
Enjoyed the Craft Show yesterday and only bought the things that were on my list so very happy. We took part in a card-making class which we really enjoyed and we had three really beautiful cards at the end of it - along with some good ideas for how to make nice cards at home. Had a lovely (and very reasonably-priced) lunch at lunchtime and then a scone and cuppa before we set off home. Lovely day! :T
I have joined the ranks of the 5:2 Fasters - my first fast was on Friday, second one today - so I will skip breakfast and lunch and have mushroom omelette for tea, which I'm really looking forward to.
Tonight is the Sing-a-Long-a-Sound of Music at the theatre with the WI - I have been allocated THE most ugly Von Trapp children's dress I have ever seen in my life - but I am determined to not let it spoil my fun. I will put a white ribbon in my hair and get on with it!
Well, time for a shower and cuppa before work. Have a great day all - the sun is shining here. :jLightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

Good morning everyone
Bit later today as have hospital appointment before work but as usual am dashing because I have been getting ebay and Amazon parcel ready. Why does it seem like a good idea to sell things that are so difficult to wrap
Bought a steam cleaner and a new iron yesterday from ebay sale proceeds, both are a great success. I think the steam cleaner will be getting a good work out over the next few weekends.
I wanted to immediately put the rest of the ebay money towards debt but the car desperately needs a service and probably a considerable amount of work to get it through the MOT, so it's squirelled away in the emergency fund for now.
Fasting day today so only dinner to sort out and it's probably a light stir fry. Last nights lentils, bacon and sausage stew was lovely and there is now plenty of soup in the freezer.
I better get going so will leave with well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

I had been bewailing how ugly the dress was to my MIL at the Craft Show yesterday so she said that she would come and see if there was anything she could do with it. When I walked into the room with it on she (literally) collapsed onto the sofa in laughter. Bless her, I could tell that he was trying not to, to spare my feelings, but she was definitely suffering from a Tena-moment!
When she finally managed to control herself she has taken in a seam down each side so that it actually fits me (it must be about a size 22) but she was struggling to compose herself the whole time.Lightbulb moment: -£9,954.31 Current Debt: £0

Good morning.
It's bright and sunny here. Yesterday afternoon really was warm. It's like emerging from an eternal winter into summer!
I'll be down at the post office just after nine with the eBay parcels. I will probably do another parcel run this afternoon. Well, I hope I will, as so far only half the buyers have paid, so I'm expecting more payments during the day.
Then it's on with the Monday housework blitz.
Dinner tonight will be plaice and veg. I'm running the contents of the freezer down, as it is in need of a defrost, so for a couple of weeks dinners will be whatever I lay my hands on!
Have a good day.Early retired - 18th December 2014
