Wedding favours - anyone tried asking for free samples?

Ok, thanks for that. I took my chances yesterday and tried Body Shop, L'Occitane, Lush and Clinique. Body Shop and L'Occitane both said they reserve their samples for charities, which is fair enough and I will pass that on to someone at work as we have a big annual charity event that they might be able to benefit from
Clinique told me to put my request in writing, which I might as well do, have quite a few stamps left from sending invites! Haven't heard back from Lush but am not hopeful to be honest, as they are more than likely the same with donating to charities. But at least I will be able to pass on what I have found out to the people at work, so definitely wasn't a waste of timeMFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
Thanks Ska Lover, I'll be sending some emails today. I'd only need a few samples so hopefully they'll send some out0

I was visiting town today so decided to try a different approach, I went up to some of the perfume and make up counters in a department store and asked them outright for them, being honest what I wanted them for. Most of them said they could not give out a huge amount in one go, but were happy to give out a small amount, so I ended up with about 25 different perfume samples. I am going to have some different types. There are other department stores in this city that I could go to.
I had an email back from Lush today saying NO, but they do offer a wedding favour service which is chargable. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
This is a great idea! I am renewing my vows in July 2014 (i know its a while off yet) and as there will be lots of kids coming i am wondering if any kids companies would do this? Any suggestions would be greatly received0

Not really sure for Kids. I am going to do favours for kids, but thinking of something v cheap like love heart sweets.
Moulton Brown have sent me a lovely package today with a dozen different samples, and they are proper travel size bottles. Big thumbs up to them!
I also got an email back from L'occitaine saying they had put me a ''little something'' in the post today. Oooooooooo000000000oooooooooThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
I so far haven't heard anything. I also emailed Kenco, Nescafe and Douwe Egberts so am waiting patiently.
For the kids we have got celophane bags from poundland (they come in packs of 20) and have put in the following:
Under 3: magic stars and milky buttons.
Under 6 : 2x Mini love hearts, mini bag haribo and flump
Over 6: 2x Maoam sticks, 2x mini love hearts and mini bag haribo.
I got the love hearts from Home Bargains 79p for a bag with 12-13 rolls in. The mini haribo bags and Maoam sticks I got from poundland. The flumps, magic stars and milky buttons I bought from Asda.
Works out at around 51p per bag I've spent on sweets. The adults are getting organza bags with 2 packs of personalised love hearts. I bought the labels pre cut from ebay and put them on the love hearts from home bargains so it's worked out at around 21p per person.0 -
I got home last night to a parcel from Tetley, had around 50 tea bag samples (7 varieties) and 10 money off coupons that had two tea bag samples in. Had emails from Kenco and Nescafe saying they don't do samples and had an email from Clippers saying due to budgeting they have no more samples available.
I have enough samples from Tetleys to put one sample of each variety in each mug plus a few spare0 -
