Wedding favours - anyone tried asking for free samples?

Hi there,
I have emailed various different cosmetic/perfume companies (probabaly about 50 in total) this evening, asking them for a batch of free samples to use as wedding favours.
Has anyone ever done this, and more importantly, had any sucess with it?
I shall keep you posted on the rejection emails I am expecting :rotfl:

I'm with you that in theory its a lovely idea...I just wonder how it would be received on lots of different levels...
Firstly the company although some could see it as a good marketing opportnity, some may see it as they only send 1 sample per customer per address type of policy ...or be relyctant to supply 50 samples or so
Your guests could see it a quirky gift....or you could get someone saying "she had a better/bigger.nicer sample than mine"..if they arn't all the same things
Once/if you get the samples you yourself migh end up feeling that actually they are a bit random and mismatched possibly

Well, an update on this, (if anyone is interested lol)
I have had about half a dozen email knock backs..so far...
Clinique emailed back and said to print out the email and take it to my local cosmetics counter where they would be happy to help!
I have had a large box of clipper tea samples delivered today!
So far, it's going better than I expected, as I thought i might be getting told to 'do one' from everyone..The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Could I be cheeky and ask what you sent to Clipper Teas? Just I have mugs for everyone and when I saw your post thought I'd love to stick a few samples in with them0

Hi there, I sent an email with this:-
Hello there,
I was wondering if you would be able to help me. I am getting married on the 26th May (only 5 weeks to go!), and am putting together little samples packs for guests at my wedding to give out as favours.
So far I have some samples from Robertsons Marmalade and various samples from Avon, but I was hoping that I would be able to add some tea samples to the pack. Would it be at all possible for you to send me some samples of your products for me to put in the packs? I would need about 70 as that's how many guests will be attending.
If there is anything you can do to help me, I would be most grateful.
If this is possible, please could you send them to the address below
PS I hadn't really recieved anything from Robertsons or Avon (as yet anyway) but was just embellishing somewhat lolThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Hi Lisa, another Tea update for you.... was I came home from work today and had a Tetley have also sent me some samples. Tetley have been very generous and sent at least double what I asked, loads of different varieties, some double packs of samples with money off coupons and at least 100 indvidiually wrapped tea bags of different flavours - so for your lovely idea of putting tea bags in your cups, may well be worth sending a copy of the email to tetleys as well and you may end up with a few to pop in the mugs.
I am amazed at both Clipper and Tetley to be honest, both have sent lovely notes and plenty of different tea bags all invididually wrapped and posted out at their own expense. How lovely
Will update further if I get any more! The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

I was just wondering if you could mention some of the companies who have knocked you back? I am trying to put together a hamper to put in the ladies loos and was thinking of asking for some toiletry samples, and was wondering who not to bother contacting!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
