Replacing main fuse box

Hello,
This is the first time I have posted so here goes!
We are looking to replace our old main fuse box with a new up to date one.
We have the old wire fuses and we want the new ones with the switches on.
Does anyone know roughly how much this will cost? I live in West Yorkshire and I know that prices vary so a rough guide would be great.
Thanks

you need a split load consumer unit with RCD and MCBs ,screwfix has a 12 way unit for £50
Look here for info on prices http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/cat.jsp?cId=A231826&ts=90067
Don't go for cheapest unless you have to because they can be a pain to installdon't get mad do yoga0 -
Part P - you can't DIY a fuse box (unless you get building control involved)Nothing to see here, move along.0

Thanks for that, which one would you recommend?? I have no idea at all??
Also do you have an idea how much it will cost to have it installed??
Thanks again:j Started my weightloss journey, its neverending!! :j

I've just paid £150 to have this done in central London. The £150 was the total cost - electrician & box.0

wylex are the best but generally cost more, with regard to cost its tricky ,depends on what else needs doing like earthing and the state of existing ring mains (sockets) lighting and so on because they have to check out ok,also Mcbs and rcd is alot more sensitive than rewireable fuses( and 100 times safer also)don't get mad do yoga0 -

Thats a very good price, perhaps too cheap for me. Did you get a certificate for the work? You certainly should have had one as a replacement consumer unit falls under part p.
Back to the original post, with a consumer unit of that age i would say that the wiring was at least 25 years old and i need of updating. Perhaps get an electrician in and see what he thinks.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
