What is the policies on taking my own shopping trolley in supermarkets? I'm thinking of buying one - but I was wondering that if I take my own trolley would I have to also push around one of the supermarket trollies too or do they normally let you put stuff inside your own trolley and unpack it when you get to the till to pay for it and then pack it again?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I struggle with carrying bags from the supermarket so I was thinking of buying a shopping cart like this

I didn't mean literally a trolley sorry for the confusion0 -
One of those will fit in a supermarket trolley and be light to pick up when empty. Suggest they would take a rather dim view of you filling your own 'bag' as you go around. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

What about old people who use them, surely they can't be required to do that.0 -
I see old folk who use them trollies stick then in the trolley or on the little hook but depends if its light enough so doesn't tip over.0

When I shop and see them with their own shopping trolleys, customers normally get a big trolley and hang the empty trolley on the peg. Or if they are strong, a small one and lay the SH trolley on its side and still have half a trolley of space left.
Some customers leave them by the checkouts which annoys the colleagues as they dump them anywhere and even blocking the fire exit!
I don't like customers putting stuff in shopping trolleys or the basket under pushchairs before they buy them as they may not be honest and 'forget' to pay for something expensive.0 -
I see people using click and collect, you order beforehand and go into the supermarket and pick up your shopping, you could transfer your items to your trolley then.
Waitrose have a Quick Check system where you can 'scan and pack your shopping straight into your own bags. Then just pay and go'. I don't know if any other supermarket has similar options.

I have one very similar to the Ebay one (I have mine because I haven't got a car and I can pull much more shopping than I can carry). It folds fairly flat so should fit on the hook on the supermarket trolley however the handle on that one is fairly thick so if you go for it tie a decent piece of string to the handle and you will then be able to hook it onto the hook. Otherwise I either fold the trolley flat and put it in the supermarket trolley with the shopping or underneath.0

If you're thinking of getting a trolley, it may be worth paying a bit more & getting a "stair-climbing" one like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hoppa-47litre-folding-lightweight-shopping/dp/B006PFXJ7K/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1366022963&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=stair-climbing+shopping+trolley
Makes hauling shopping up & down kerbs/on & off buses/over the doorstep much easier. They don't take-up any more space than the normal type. I wouldn't be without mine (which we've nicknamed "Granny"!)0
