Parking Charge Notice - UKCPS

tool
I was parked at a friends in a private pay an display car park. When I returned to my car later that night the ticket had expired about an hour earlier, and I had a Penalty Charge Notice from UKCPS. I've seen alot of people on this site stating ignore it etc. But i'm unsure what to do. I was displaying an expired ticket. What should I do? Any help will be much appreciated

A private pay and display car park overnight at a friends flat? How does that work then?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My friend lives in an apartment block but does not have the keys to the car park gate. So I parked at a car park nearby, which is a pay an display car park.0

Not sure why you used a random unrelated car park, asking for trouble really especially one with a PPC infesting it. Could you not have just parked on street after 7pm or so for free, or is this London or somewhere with 24/7 restrictions? Just wondering about better alternatives for next time.
I would like to see UKCPS exposed to a strong POPLA appeal and that's what we recommend anyway, unless this was in Scotland. Here's a recent reply I did about another PPC and the options available and things to consider:

The Parking Cowboys website is a useful start to see if the company actually comply with the BPA CoP as far as a Notice to Keeper is concerned:
http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/keeper-liability/
I would WAIT for the Notice to Keeper in fact, do nothing until then. Check it against the Parking Cowboys' summary and keep the letters and all envelopes to prove dates posted (if franked with a date by UKCPS). Then I would do a legal challenge sort of appeal (but NOT a copy of that link, please think about all the issues and possible BPA breaches and word it your own way; UKCPS will have seen that template online and no template should just be used verbatim of course).
When it comes to the POPLA stage (when UKCPS reject your challenge) come back for advice on some strong wording and let us know then what you have found in terms of breaches. You can read all the points UKCPS 'have to' adhere to in the BPA Code of Practice here so read it and compare it to their letters, signage and timings of replies. DO NOT just fire off a rushed POPLA appeal at that stage, there's more to it than meets the eye!
P.S. Do not reply to any private message asking for details or offering to 'help' you or threatening to escalate this 'ticket'. Beware private messages over fake PCNs, keep it on the open forum. And UKCPS are nothing to worry about - they seem to trade out of the back of a caravan behind a pub in Leeds! See post #17 here to see the sort of firm you are dealing with here:

I parked there as there is a 2 hour rule parking on the street before 5 and I had arrived earlier in the day.
I have read through what you said, but will I actually win an appeal as like I said my ticket had expired?0 -
You haven't looked at the Parking Cowboys links then. Expired ticket has pretty much nowt to do with it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
