I used AVG for years but when they changed to AVG 2013 it became problematic so I got rid and use Avast now!

One big issue with AVG. You can only download from CNET using their installer.

    That sucks big time.

If AVG were not linked to it, I bet it would flag up as malware.

If Avast is hungry and laggy why does my PC startup properly now and faster?

Thanks everyone for all the advice.

I have un-installed AVG & downloaded Avast. However, when i look at the Avast dets it gives me the option of activating the firewall. I already run Windows Firewall so should i activate the Avast one as well or just stick with the Windows Firewall. Can you run 2 firewalls on the same computer.

    Thanks

Avast clogs your comp up & slows it down, continually ask you to update, and if you not careful youve got a 30 day trial of the paid version, when that ends, youve got no cover, cant go back to the free version, and when you go to uninstall, you cant unless your ok with "Safe Mode", yes a lot of you are, but a lot arnt.
AVG does a full scan in less than 1hour, Avast & MSE take hours.
    AVG is fine by me.

Everyone has their favourite and if yours is AVG then fine but why talk nonsense? If you actually look at the screen when getting it there is no risk of the paid for version unless you want it. Avast never asks me to update. It just does it. Neither a quick scan or full scan takes "hours" or anything like

Free avast for me as well, avg caused lots of problems last year for me after an update, many suffered the same problem. Avast updates on auto. Avira had a buy me advert that popped up at start and I could not get rid of it, also it slowed down everything when updating.
