    Part of the Furniture
The item was £40.00 + £10.00 postage, my offer of £30.00 was declined :(

If they have sold an item like this before ...Then it might be worth checking out Goofbid ( the best offer tool ) to see how much they have accepted in the past ..

What's resonable when making an offer on an item, regardless of the value

I always assume if a buyer is making an offer, they have a reasonable idea of item worth.

I add buyers to my block bidder list if they make silly offers, as do many other sellers. I also use auto-decline to weed out the daft ones, so I don't need to see them. I add all the 'auto declined' user IDs to my blocked bidder list once or twice a month.

I would suggest only making an offer if a seller has a 'Best Offer' facility. If you are looking at an auction, just bid up to the offer price you had in mind, don't e-mail the seller offers on an auction listing, as you'll likely end up on a block list.

Also remember some sellers have inflated ideas of the value or use best offer to lure you in thinking you might get it cheaper.
