    Re Theme Park Tickets

I would be interested in any tips about buying Tickets for the theme parks in Florida - Disney, Universal, Sea World

    Thanks

    Matt

If you fancy a dolphin swim, try Discovery Cove and for this you also get 7 consecutive days free entry to Sea World. We found this great as we went to SW every day for 7 days (different times of day) but only for about 1-2 hours at a time - this meant we saw/did everything we possibly could without getting absolutely shattered and we still had time to do other things for the rest of the day. Also, if you go to watch the whale display it is different each time as well - the night ones are excellent!

I was in Orlando in January and did the vast majority of the theme parks in 2 weeks. Only exception really being Discovery Cove which was beyond my budget.

Those sites Chris25 listed are really good. In particular http://www.thedibb.co.uk is informative. Also http://www.wdisneyw.com and http://www.disboards.com have great forums.

For tickets, I can recommend having used them myself: http://www.ticketmania.com They are based in the US, but offer free delivery and I had my tickets within a week. With exchange rates being so good, it can work out quite cheap. Also, as Rosemary Brown said: http://www.attractionticketsdirect.com/ With
I used them for the 5-day flex pass, which has now gone down in price from when I went. It covers Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Wet n Wild and Busch Gardens and included unlimited entrances for 14 days - great stuff!

Disney tickets operate in a slightly different way - eg. a 5 day pass means any 5 days (with no time limit) can be used to visit the parks. Although there are special tickets as well that operate in different ways. But with the "normal" tickets, as they never expire, something I wish I had done, is to buy more days than you need and then when you go again in the future (as you will most likely do!) you don't have to pay the increased ticket prices. You lock in the original prices.

Buying in all the tickets in advance not only saves you loads of money (the gate prices are so much more!), you also avoid the massive queues for ticket purchases (even in off-peak times as they open less booths).

    Hope this helps.

  • When I went to Orlando last year I bought a book called Beyond Disney: the Unofficial Guide to Universal, Seaworld & the Best of Central Florida (available at amazon uk) - It had all the other attractions in florida except disney and had descriptions of the best time to go and things to avoid etc - most times we were though the park by just after lunchtime and we could go to a restaurant for lunch - it was great and we avoided all the long queues

  • Hi, In my local Morrison's supermarket there are Alton Towers vouchers inside specially marked four packs of Imperial Leather Soaps. All of these contain a voucher for a free child ticket or you can get a £7 reduction on adult entry instead. Plus there is a chance to win a voucher for a full price adult ticket. (There are 5,000 of those to be won). These vouchers can be used up to the 17th September.

Also until the 22nd August Morrisons are offering these 4 packs of soap as a BOGOFF - so you get two of these packs for £1.59p. That's eight bars of soap plus two free child or two adult discounted vouchers.

We are all going to be very clean in our house with all this soap!!!

    ;D ::) ;D

or how to avoid queing anyway, the obvious one is turn up early and hit the big rides.
But the most amazing one is go for a big ride at dinner time, nearly everyone eats at the same time. Get in a que at 12.15 and then again at 13.15 and you will see the difference.

if you're ever down west wales way, oakwood is a little-known place, but a very entertaining day out. its still growing, but has a fair range frideso suit differing age ranges. sem to be a bit of a jump between the little 'uns stuff and the big rides, but for a reasonably riced day out you cant go far wrong

it says on the oakwood website the height limit for the bigger rides is only 1.2 - is that correct? my 8 year old can go on everything?

we went a couple of years ago and are going again at easter - megafobia is the most fantastic roller coaster, the best one i've been on i'd say, apart from nemesis but that's different, megafobia is a woodie :-)

this isnt gospel, but from what i remember, the height restrictions werent all that high.

they do have an intermediate roller coaster for the kids too big for the baby one, but not quite big/brave enough for megaphobia.

i would definately reccommend the bounce (shot and drop tower)...fab view from the top and a real adrenalin buzz

the bounce tower is on the edge of the park and has 4 sides, if you get the back side your view is of cows in fields, i don't know why but it's really cool being shot upwards with a view like that lol!

we're really excited now, my son is very small for his age but loves fast rides, most places have a 1.4 restriction on the best rides but his friends who are tall enough don't like fast rides, he's gutted that he's so tiny so we go to blackpool a lot so he can go on the big dipper.

by the way i just saw on lastminute.com they have £19 entry tickets for alton towers, thorpe park etc.
