Are you entering small comps? I'm wouldn't class myself as a comper but I do all the facebook like & share comps just through my personal page & I've won loads. But we're talking, 6 cupcakes, a reusable nappy, an apron etc.
I just wonder if you are only entering to win holidays and cars, so are loads of other people.....
I don't know, just a thought..... Good luck x0 -
Maybe just treat it as a hobby & the wins as a bonus.I see so many posts like yours it becomes rather "samey" to be honest. There are lots of people entering comps atm, maybe due to the economic situation,so the odds are a lot higher but its free to do & passes a few minutes.
I enter thousands per year & have had very few wins this year.0 -
i do comping as a little hobby kids go to bed t.v on might as well do something at the same time (am on my own so not like im ignoring anyone lol) and if i win whoop whoop
i doubt your doing anything wrong hun it is pure luck! x
why be normal when you were born to stand out!0 -
I only had three small wins last year, but had three wins last month. It's all down to luck.0

It is all down to luck and effort.
I've done much better this year so far then I did last year, but I'm probably spending 3 hours (ontop of a full time job) comping. This year I have started doing daily comps and had my first daily win last week- but these take me an hour a day online .. worth it for a set of undies? Of course not, I should really get an evening job lol, but I actually enjoy comping, I like the thought of winning but not to the point that I expect to. I guess it's just nice to think 'what if'..
Anyone who wonders if its worth it should really consider if they are doing it for the right reasons. If you do it for fun a win will come eventually.
I also recommend entering local comps and comps for either smaller prizes or where there are a high number of prizes. I also notice how many people have thanked a certain comp too to get an indication of how popular it is- less popular more chance of winning.2012 wins = £933 :j
2013 wins so far = £4,025 :j
July wins: Holiday to Marbella :j0 -
A similar thread pops up every couple of weeks.
I wonder if it's related to the IWIW thread (sub-forum). Just glancing at it, it gives the impression that comping leads to untold riches and everyone is winning.
I don't think it's just about jealousy either. I look at IWIW and I look at people's signatures listing their wins and I often wonder if i'm doing it right, if I have the wrong email address, if there are tricks I don't know about.
Personally i'd like to see IWIW stopped. People can DM the thread starter to thank them for wins and can post about big wins on this sub-forum.
I'm not trying to start a debate on the subject because I know in advance I'm in the minority here but I dislike IWIW and think it gives the wrong impression. Plus, if I'm being honest, it's hard to not post a win without looking like you're gloating and that's not something which should be encouraged.0 -

I do see where you are coming from but I quite like the IWIW.
Just needs people to lower their expectations & see it as as fun hobby.
Moaning about not winning is getting a bit boring:rotfl:0 -
Sure, I think it's incredibly discourgaing looking at that board if you haven't won anything for a while but I know most people enjoy looking at it. It should be up to the forum regulars such as yourself anyway.0

Take a look at what comps you're entering and how many - as was said above you have more chance entering the small ones - I enter about 150 a day plus the mag dailies and some other dailies . I suppose on average I win about 2-3 times a week if not more - but last week was a only couple of Michael Caine DVDs and a book.
On average I win from the magazine dailies once a month but they do take over an hour a day to enter
A warning about like & shares as they are against facebook policy & they can shut your account down without warning for too many shares, as they did to a fair number of compers on here recentlyproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0 -

The one question that springs to mind is do you have any idea how many you are entering on a daily basis? You also say you've spent a lot of time doing it.... but how much is "a lot of time"?
To put it into perspective I enter anywhere between 50 - 200 comps a day (depending on how much spare time I have). I've just had 2 weeks off for Easter Holidays so I have done loads in that time.
A few years back I did use to keep a tally of exactly how many I was entering....I recorded this on a spreadsheet along with my wins. What the spreadsheet showed me is the more I entered... the more I won. I don't bother now as I'm a bit more casual about my comping!
Unless I am away from home for any reason, I comp every day. I spend about 30 minutes in the morning, 15 - 20 minutes during my lunch break and a few hours in the evening after work (depending on my commitments). Over the years I have become more 'streamlined' in my comping so it generally only takes me about 30 seconds to enter some comps (using a form filler, being registered on sites or having an auto signature for emails all speed up the process). Operating this way means I can whizz through several comps a minute.
You can see my wins in my signature - that is only my 'better' wins too. I tend to win lots of small things each month too (DVD's, books etc). From my experience on here comping, my success is on par with others that make the same commitment to comping. But most importantly, like others have mentioned, don't expect to win. I anticipate the next win (whatever and whenever that may be) but I don't 'expect' it. For me the thrill is in the what if, the anticipation...the surprise.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0
