Now I am confused too, lol.

What's the Halifax deposit to do with the Santander issue? When did you open what Halifax account, and when did you pay/attempt to pay what money into it and what happened? Why do you expect it to fail?

When did you open what Santander account, and when did you transfer what from where into it? When did you pay/attempt to pay what money into it and what happened?

    Please post dates and amounts

Have you had any updates from Santander on what has happened? It would be interesting to know the answers to the questions inovate has posted above so we can understand what happened.

    So this is what happened.

In May, Santander agreed that it was their error that I could not add my allowance for 2012/13. Despite getting this in writing, there followed numerous letters and phone calls because Santander just managed to not address the issue. I was finally credited with £3, but again the reason did not match the complaint.

I took it to the Financial Ombudsman. Santander investigated and has now agreed to pay 5% on £3000 for 5 years, so the tax element works out at 1% - I will get approx £150. They will also pay £70 for inconvenience. The FO says this is a reasonable offer, so I will accept. They only have to pay for 5 years even though I loss the interest for life.

To all out there, don't give up.
