  • Gap insurance? Unless you are referring to a different product Gap insurance only covers the difference between a insurance payout and any finance you have outstanding on the car in the event of a total loss.

Is your car really leased, or is it on a PCP type fiance agreement?

It's leased, i actually just looked at my gap insurance, and it has scratch and dent cover as long as it's not over 150mm, which i don't think it is.

Maybe i can just get it repaired through my gap insurer.

    Make your mind up.

First you say he can't do anything as he's not the owner, now he can repair as per his agreement.

Because the OP has added more information.

I suggest you read the thread a little more closely.

Acting the clever man without knowing what has been said previously makes you look stupid.

On the subject of blending metallic colours, such as silver, the techniques are much more advanced these days and it is easy for a good body shop with skilled staff to blend standard metallics.

Pearlescent and Mica paints might be a bit more difficult.

My wife's Clio had damage just after purchase over three years ago and they blended on both bumpers and both doors.

The reason I know this is there were a couple of little marks on the front and rear bumpers that were still present after the damage and a ratchets were repaired.

I will stick with my opinion that the OP should make sure helping a mate is not going to cost them money in the long run.

If they have a preferred bodyshop then use it and get your mate to pay.

    Aye right!

    Read your Insurance documents.

Breach the term and conditions and you are very likely to have your policy cancelled.

Without looking in to it I would suggest it may be a breach of contract law perhaps?

You do what you want, I personally don't care.

I shall await your thread about how you didn't inform your insurance about a minor incident and then the refused to pay out when your car is stolen.

Nothing worse than people with no intention of taking a specific course of action happy to infer that it is fine to do it on an anonymous forum.

They have a little device to measure the thickness of the paint.

If its not uniform they know its been repaired. You didnt use their recommended repairer or even tell them so they can very easily find out.

Been a few posts on here where they have said previos repairs were not upto standard and billed them.

Out of interest as it's anonymous, would you report a puncture from a pot hole to your insurance?

    Yawn.

You need to get out of the house more.

    Troll.
