Ideas for a new Kitchen for 5, in Buy to Let

Hi

Needing some ideas for kitchen designing for 5 persons in a buy to let. Its going to be a newly fitted kitchen so I'd like to get it right first time.

Chatting with friends has already given me these ideas...
- Double drainer sink
- Fridge with at least five separate shelves

But what about how many pan drawers, ovens etc?
So I'd really welcome any other suggestions on how to make a shared 'Renters' life easier in the kitchen area.

Thanks in advance

I know someone living in a house of 6 and I would say two fridge freezers is a must. I can't imagine 1 being enough, shelves won't really make a difference if they're all squashed in one fridge.

We have a wall of tall cupboards, If you can fit that in (it's a kitchen diner these are diner end) that would be a good idea.

American fridge/freezer which you can get for £499 delivered by Pixamania Daewoo DRS30SMI with 2 years warranty would be a good start.
Washing machine or washer/dryer, dish washer or double sink.
Seperate cupboard for each tenant and breakfast bar with 3 stools.
Seating for all five on 3/2 sofas.
Double divan bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers(5) and bedside cabinet (3 drawers). Mirror in every bedroom ( Long )

I lived in a shared house with three others last year and we had one small fridge and freezer. I recommend 2 fridge/freezers, especially for future letting as we currently have just a fridge with small freezer compartment and its a real deal breaker.

Last year we had a top and bottom cupboard and a draw. I appreciate you may not have the space but this was def an advantage.

I'm wondering whether you can get extra long draining boards as 4 people trying to wash up at the same time is a nightmare. Also a larger than normal dirty washing up section.

Also make sure there's a decent amount of plug sockets for different people's requirements as it was very annoying unplugging my housemates coffee maker whenever I wanted some toast!

Hope that's useful, all from my experiences in a shared house.

Definately try to fit in a washing machine and separate dryer, as both can be running simultaneously, one washing, one drying.

We put 17 plug sockets in the Kitchen/lounge with 14 in the kitchen and 3 in the lounge ( some were doubles some singles). But we built a large kitchen/diner/lounge area with enough room for 6 tenants !!

Depends if you are aiming for a family of five, five singles or one couple and 3 singles and if you want to maintain some flexibility in the mix.

Assuming you are planning to let to 5 unrelated/individual tenants, have you checked whether HMO rules will apply? Your council may have specific guidance on what is recommended/expected, in order to comply.
