We have had conversations along these lines before.
If you hunt round the web for recommended retail prices (RRP) then you will find that the products are in fact worth £25 at the proper retail prices.
If you are used to buying your make up from discount on-line stores or on ebay then you will be dissapointed because this is not what the claim relates to.
The claim relates to the full RRP that you would find in somewhere like John Lewis or Boots.
They use these free sets as ways to get rid of old stock.
With any random bag you get then sometimes you get stuff that suits you and sometimes you don't.
I have always had well known brands like Almay, Rimmel and Revlon.
I think if you are expecting to get everything that suits you then your expectations are too high because it is after all a random selection.
If you are comparing with discount stores and not full RRP then you are also not in line with the claim they are making (which is quite legal).
I have been generally pleased with what I've had and ebayed the rest for a few quid.
Note that if you want to ebay it then you shouldn't try it as used make up doesn't sell.
I have had a few strange colours but I've also had some very nice things.
I have no connection with them, I am just saying that I think some people's expectations are unrealistic if they expect it ALL to suit them and be at ebay prices.0 -
I had one of these offers a while ago too. Absolute rubbish. I got a foundation shade six. ie bright orange a nasty lip gloss, a really really dark lip liner, some flourescent eye shadow and something else so bad I can't remember! No way was it worth £25! They wouldn't even sell on Ebay.

No way was it worth £25!
I think you will find it was at RRP prices.
The first set I had from them had some odd colours (blue lip gloss !!) but the second set was very nice so to a certain extent it is luck of the draw.
If you would like to list up the brand and types of products then I will attemp to find the RRPs (recommended retail price) for you.
Note that you will need to give the type as well as the make as Maybelline etc. sell many types of lipstick and eye shadow.
When I've done this before it's always added up with RRP although you can often buy the products much cheaper at discount on-line stores or on ebay.0 -
I'm not too worried about it it was a good few months ago now. I just took it as a bit of bad luck and never ordered from them again! It might well have been worth £25 but I'd rather spend £25 and know what I was getting.

but I'd rather spend £25 and know what I was getting.
Do that then !!
Some people may be happy to give items that don't suit them to family or friends with different colouring as a gift or to sell on ebay.
I agree with you that a random selection is not as useful as a carefully chosen selection, however people KNEW it was a random selection so I really do think that expecting every item to suit your skin type, colouring and be your top choice is a bit much.0 -
