Can anyone help? My son has moved to a flat with no installed phone line. He needs broadband at home but his mobile phone (pay as you go) is with 3 and the reception is poor in his flat and in the immediate area. Should he change networks and risk the same poor coverage? Should he have a line installed and if so which installer is cheapest? Or should he look at mobile broadband and hope the coverage reaches his flat? He is on a limited budget and is becoming very anxious about all the variables in gaining broadband at home. PS he needs broadband to regularly Skype his girlfriend in another European country. I would be grateful for any advice from anyone who has had similar difficulties. Thank you.

Broadband is exchange-specific, so do an exchange search on wwww.samknows.com for his available LLU options.
He can test for a better network by using the postcode checkers, and then borowing a phone on another network, or buying a PAYG SIM for the likely candidates. He shouldn't 'hope' unless he wants to take out a contraqct on an unusable network.
Landline installs generally start at around £40 with a 12m minimum term.No free lunch, and no free laptop
