Cracked iPad2 Screen

My sister was involved in car crash yesterday with a hit & run driver:mad:. Thankfully only her car and iPad(in case)were the only casualities. Any idea what the best options are regarding cracked iPad screen? I think she might be able to claim of her house contents insurance but that would mean paying excess and premiums would increase next year. Is it very expensive to have screen replaced? many thanks for any advice offered.

Out of warranty service is £206.44 for an iPad one or two, £256.44 for an iPad three or four and £216.44 for an iPad Mini.
Apple products aren't cheap unfortunately.
What will your verse be?

Wow that's expensive. Might be worth claiming off insurance if possible. Thanks for information.http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_Kingdom&product=ipad

If there's any way of finding out how much the premium will go up, it might be worth seeing whether it will be more expensive over the course of the year than just paying the OOW replacement fee.
Is the screen too cracked to be usable? What will your verse be?

Not sure about that but know crack covers whole of screen. If there's any way of finding out how much the premium will go up, it might be worth seeing whether it will be more expensive over the course of the year than just paying the OOW replacement fee.

Bear in mind most of these third party repairs void Apples warranty. What will your verse be?

hi there.
our ipad 2 screen was damaged quite badly recently and we paid £100 from a repair shop in plymouth called 'plymouth gadget repair'. probably no good for you but will give you and indication of roughly how much you should be paying.

The apple deal might not be so bad, depending on how long she's had it. If under 12 months, then any repair bar from apple (or authorised apple repairers) will void all warranties that it came with, including the battery one.
If it's under 12 months, go for insurance and insist it's done through apple as it is still under 12 months and needs to have the continuity of existing waranties.
If it's older than 12 months, and it's battery is a bit c@p etc, then consider apple repair as they will just swap out with a refurb model, which will be as new pretty much. Apple themselves do em up, test em, give new batteries, so for the price it's high, but it's a decent win win situation.0 -
Agree with 'Lifeforms', and just getting someone to replace the screen could end up with the ipad not working very well. Go and get a quote from an Apple Store and head down the insurance route. I think it's about £200 but this would be for a replacement ipad. Glad she wasn't hurt!0

Thank you so much. That's really helpful because she lives in Plymouth. I'll send her the information.swvillafan wrote: »hi there.
