Got myself a Nokia n95 from o2 and was wondering if anyone had the answer to this.
If i did debrand this phone, I know i would lose my warranty with o2, but would it affect the 2 year warranty with Nokia?

Dont think so, as far as nokia are concerned ur updating your firmware from their site. Ring nokia to make sure0

As far as I'm aware this will void any warranties since warranties are normally only for worksmanship, and anything involving you altering the phone in a way that the consumer isn't meant to will void the warranty.
If you are really that worried about the warranty being void then I would suggest against debranding the phone, or buy some insurance.0 -
If by debranding you mean reflash the firmware then you could potentially void the warranty.
If you refllash onto generic nokia firmware then you will void the warranty.
02 has released their own firmware upgrade. If you use this then you will not void your warranty.
If you do reflash to generic nokia firmware then you will have to change the 'code of the handset' (sure you know what I am talking about). If you change it back to the 02 code after the reflash then there is a good chance that they will not notice the generic nokia firmware incase you send it back under warranty (which is technically void).
Think twice before debranding the 02 N95. I have read alot about people debranding N95's because network operators have removed VOIP features. This is only the case in Vodaphone/Orange. As far I know know 02/T-mob handsets still have the full set of features. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
Wel, i got an o2 handset. Where is the new upgrade located? Nokia site, coz i checked 2 days back, and there was nothing.0

My apologies - seems I was misinformed
I checked where i thought i read someone say they had the 02 upgrade but they infact meant they had put on the generic firmware upgrade.
I believe 02 has said they will release an upgrade within 2 weeks. You can take your mobile into an 02 shop and they should do it for you when available. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
Im about to buy an orange n95 off my mate who is getting it as an unwanted upgrade, however im on o2. Would i need to debrand the phone in order for my o2 sim to work? If so do all nokia shops do this?0

no, it needs to be unlocked by a code that you can only purchase from orange to unlock itEx forum ambassador

normally, they heavilly susidise the hand set so they lock it (apart from some O2)
tell the person you are buying it from to get the code for £20 from OrangeEx forum ambassador
