Hyundai i10 3rd year service

Who is carrying out the service and what are they actually going to do?0

its the Hyundai main dealer.... and its the 3rd year Hyundai service - not sure whats involved...0

Sounds too cheap for a proper 3 year service.0

just re-read the email from the service department and apparently they are giving me £50 discount due to not using them before for the car (actual price should be £176.66).. note to self should read the email fully....0

Have you previously had your car service at a different Hyundai main dealer, somewhere else, or not at all?
If you've already decided to not keep a main dealer service history then if you really want the best deal you should check what the new garage is doing for the money, and then get a quote for the same from somewhere else. Your car's service log book should tell you what should be done by the way.0 -
Sounds reasonable.
One reason for the long warranty with Kia and Hyundai is the fact most people with a warranty will use a main dealer.
The service will likely just be an oil and oil filter and general check over.
Expect to be told you need brakes, if they do just smile and say you will book it in later in the month.
Double check yourself and if it does need brakes buy the parts and get a small Indy to do them.
Don't forget that no matter what advice is given on the forum you need to be happy with the price and service.
And if in two years time you want a new Hyundai and try to trade it in don't be surprised if they bid low due to lack of main dealer history.
Beware of Internet know alls that have never owned a new car.
If I was looking to spend mo EU on a three or four year old car with a manufacturers warranty I would want to see a full main dealer history otherwise the price would come down.
Sometimes you need to consider resale and ease of sale even when you are not going to sell for a long time.
Under £130 for a main dealer service is not expensive by any means.
Korean cars service parts are also expensive when compared to European brands and are not widely available in OE quality from third party suppliers.
I would stick with main dealer on this occasion.0 -

If that was aimed at me please note that I very deliberately and explicitely only suggested getting a quote from a different garage if the OP had already chosen not to keep a main dealer service history. Something that is a possibility given they had stated they were getting a £50 reduction in the service cost due to not having taken their car to the garage in question before.
I completely agree with you that keeping a main dealer service history on a 3 year old car is the best plan.0 -

Even at £176 that's a good price IMO.
My car, yes it's a Getz
, when in warranty cost me a fair bit more than that. 0 -
A relative is taking their 2006 Chevrolet Matiz for a service at a Vauxhall dealer next week for £129. Been serviced every year since new.
At the Chevrolet dealer for the first 3 years then at the vauxhall dealer every year since as the Chev dealer changed to Fiat.0 -
The car hasn't got main dealer stamps in the book, last service was when we bought it from the local peugot dealer - so not to bothered about the main dealer stamp in the book - from what I can locate on the web it is mainly a oil and filter change, and check other things - checked online with a local garage I have used in the past and for a similar service they are charging £159.99.
The local Hyundai dealer (who we haven't used before) have said that as special offer they are giving £50 discount because we haven't used them before (I know that they will try and find something else wrong).0
