First ESA payment and due date

Hi all, I have recently been moved from IB to ESA, my IB was due every other Monday but because of my bank (NatWest) it was always in on a Friday they process Monday payments on a Saturday morning normally but it was always in on Friday.

I spoke with the ESA department on Wednesday and was told that my payment is due to go out that evenening overnight, it too is due on a Monday, I have checked my bank today and nothing is there, I know im not even due till Monday but I thought that nothing went in on Mondays unless faster payment ect. Has anyone else been in this situation, its just you hear of all these payments being days and days late and as its my first ever ESA payment im a bit concerned,

any help would be great
many thanks

If your payment is due Monday and it doesnt go in then you will have to phone them because Feps are done manually.

They will not know that your payment has not gone in until you tell them, and then if they check and see it hasnt will issue payment through a Fep, this is payed via another system CPS not the usual Legacy.

Its quick and easy and you will get your money in under three hours, but ask for a call back if you have to ring, to check they have done it....

It's possible that there may have been a slight delay in the payment being issued. I would phone up the DWP on Monday morning, you may find that the payment is going to be in your account on Tuesday.
  • When you log on to your account, is there a link to view pending payments?

I'm with a different bank(HSBC), but I can see payments pending for a Monday on a Friday.

Give over. My two, two weekly ESA payments for March 2013 were supposed to be in my bank on a Thursday as was usual.

On both occasions Thursday came and went and so did Friday morning with no money. So I telephoned and complained. On both occasions I was told that I would get a 'ring back' on the following Monday. Well Monday came and still no money and by 4pm still no 'ring back'.
Telephoned the BDC again and told that someone would ring back in the morning - Tuesday. They did and told me that my money would be in the bank and available by 5pm which it was.

Once I can accept, twice in a row is sheer incompetence.

Three hours? More like three days +!

They must have given you the runaround,

A Fep is a same day banking that goes into an account with in three hours or less :)

They certainly did and there isn't a damn thing that you can do about it! You just have to accept that there is no money until it arrives - in my case due Thursday paid the following Tuesday.

You are at the mercy of the BDC as to if and when they do something to sort it out.

You can demand all you want to, if they don't do it - they don't do it!

I honestly feel so sorry for the staff that answer the telephones. They themselves can't do a thing other than send an email asking someone else to sort the problem out yet they get all of the flack!

    sorry you had the runaround,
next due date you dont get paid ring as usual then ask for a call back,
you should get one in three hours and a Fep issued.
You are entitled to your benefit on the correct pay day if nothing is wrong with your claim eg change of address. etc

Its easier to pay a Fep on a call back then deal with an Escalation believe me.

I generally wait until the following day just in case it goes in overnight. If nothing is in by lunchtime on the Friday, I telephone them and am told that they will issue an email to get someone to ring me back which of course never happens!

3 hours!!! Never happens. I always have to telephone twice to get anywhere - Friday afternoon and Monday afternoon.

You are entitled to your benefit on the correct pay day if nothing is wrong with your claim eg change of address. etc

The only excuse/reason that has ever been given to me is that the payment 'has failed' and that my claim is 'a clerical one'

Its easier to pay a Fep on a call back then deal with an Escalation believe me.

There is no rhyme or reason as to why this should happen. It all goes through smoothly for a couple of months then it goes into chaos for at least one two weekly payment, sometimes two payments are involved.

The trouble is that you can't or aren't allowed to telephone the people that actually make these payments. You have to go through a load of security questions and always forget the memorable thingy, then end up with some poor young girl who knows absolutely nothing and at best can send an email.
