  • Saw in one store recently Baileys miniature and chocs from Christmas, no price checker seen to test them on. £5 on shelf. Likely to be 1p? I'll pop back when I have time to try them. Also seen a pot noodle set (pot noodle and a branded PN timer) showing was £10 now £2.
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused

There is far too much paranoia and selfishness on this thread. If I was new or a lurker I would understand, but I am neither. Some of us just don't have time to read through hundreds of posts daily but do like to look for glitches when we eventually do get the opportunity. Most MSE'rs won't be reading this thread. It's got loads of woffle in it for starters! So whilst I may be a rarer poster than most, as I have stated before, I am known to one or two regulars and would like to help where I can. I'll ignore and rise above the goaders on here as they get everywhere, not funny, not clever, not original.

Scamps I didn't know your situation, but there are lots of T's around. You helped one person local to you at a car boot, I can assure you I'm nowhere near your patch. No Thatchers or 1p chocs evident in Bar Hill or Kettering today.

Sorry you are having problems with the thread but if you've been around a while you should by now understand how it works. There is no set formula as to how glitches etc are or should be presented to anyone. It's very much pot luck as to whether you are in the right place at the right time, at least that's what I find.
I often find that people are talking about something I haven't latched onto and don't understand but I put that down to not being on the thread when it first appears...that's life:)

  • Thanks for the reply davemorton. Tired and grumpy and need sleep. Thanks again to all those who helped. To the rest who say 'don't post a list as stores will be cleared' - good job others don't take that attitude before posting here otherwise you'd have no chocs to look for, would you?! I just find the 'me me me' mentality of some quite sad. I like to share and like to give bargains to those less fortunate than myself too.

I'll leave the night owls to it. Good night to you all!

Unforunately they want either a driving licence number, birth certificate or a previous address that shows that my hamster is on the electoral roll somewhere:rotfl:

I do car boots every weekend. from what I get from here. I have to , to make ends meet. I make sure my friends, family and neighbours are ok. And then I make a living from the rest.
    That's not wrong, is it?

You've probably gone off in a huff by now so it may be pointless replying but I'd just like to say that those who remain on this thread and post publicly are the last people that can be described as me me me:cool:.(no offence intended to our neighbours) 10 ways and other more public threads seem to have no problem finding things on here to give to the masses.

One further point to bear in mind. None of us pay a membership fee to view this thread so our expectations in terms of value for money should be zero. Think about it and come back and join in when you are less tired.:)

help please ....I need to find something that sainsbruys sell but has to be 10p or 2p more then what T`s sell at....TIA

going to give this tesco bingo ago.......and see if they offer a different prize.

Hi - I've been looking for items 10p cheaper in T than S.
Best I've found seems to be 2x Wham Original Raspberry Flavour Chew Bar (25g) - S 25p x 2 vs T 20p x 2. Loses you as little as possible, compared to Avs T being 10% off 20p = 18p (but straight price in A & T some months ago was 17p, and A vs T's 17p then would have meant 15.3p for one, as opposed to today's Sains BM vs T buying 2 to compare to 40p).

Otherwise, the Birds Eye Cod Cakes (4pk) S 85p vs T 75p (but loses you 7.5p compared to Avs T). (Even penny matters - M price increase from 75p to 85p recently but now fallen back to 78p.)

A good one seems to be Emmi Cafe Latte Cappuccino 230ml S 86p, T 60p. That's a 26p difference but might be an option if you can 'jiggle' the rest of your basket around.

Or I've got the Locketts Extra Strong or Cranberry and Blueberry (both of them 10pk) S 60p vs T 55p. But 55p for a packet of lozenges seems quite expensive compared to price of any '2 for 80p' that you sometimes get on other, similar packs (and then Avs those for 72p/2 = 36p each, not 55p each!)

Close, but no cigar, are Pagen Wholegrain Krisprolls - S £1.09 T £1.00, but these have been below £1.00 in A before (89p?) and, even on today's prices, could be Avs T for 90p net.

You could simply buy 2 tins of Heinz Spaghetti Hoops (400g) - S 65p x2 vs T 60p x2, and that would do the trick for 10p difference but, then again, it's still more expensive than A's previous 2 for £1 on them, and way more expensive than 29p for one tin at A recently on the plain 400g Heinz Spaghettis.

I've found Jacobs Savoury Sweet Chilli Thins (150g) have a four pence difference - S 89p vs T 85p. So too do the larger 200g Salt & Black Pepper Bakes, but they're also avail. in A.

You could get 2 tins of the Glenryck 155g Pilchards in Tomato Sauce, 55p each vs T's any 2 for £1.00. But then again they're quite expensive per 100g and they're also avail. in A.

There's also a relatively small difference - but it's 29p difference - between Sains and T on some Princes Pastes - they're 69p in S, and those that are 40p in T (but some of them are also in A for 50p and hence Avs T for 36p net via the APG in a basket of at least 8 different grocery items that feature on MSM).

If you're just short of £20, you might be best buying something that is very cheap in Sains, such as an own-brand whoopsie or several, rather than compare vs a T price that is more expensive than the extra (on the own brand whoopsie) that you'd spend and forgo the 2p or 10p. (I had great difficulty, myself, reaching exactly £10 - despite several shifts in my proposed basket and eventually settled for £9.93 back - that's good enough, especially if getting 7p can only be done by adding a 50p item that's more expensive than the 43p cost elsewhere, pay 50p to get 7p, or pay no extra and lose 7p - the minor loss of 7p is better than the net loss of 43p on the paying 50p to just get the exact £10.) Though, of course, your next shop is probably a few pence over £9.90 (or £9.98) or £10.00 anyway. I'm not that fine in my own calculations on my shopping folks!!

(I've checked the 'usual' suspects, such as the Food Doctors that are 99p, but they don't seem to be avail. on t.com anymore. And the Reece's Pieces individuals, about 20 or 30 odd pence each, used to be Svs T - except I found my Sains did not stock them at all:( - but now it seems aren't in either S or T. And T are price matched on the Barratt Licquorice Catherine Wheels, rather than being on a 10p price drop as they were many months ago.)

Otherwise, it seems it's 11 of the 10p sweets that compare to T (and preferably aren't avail. in A), using at least 2 different varieties. But that's a £1.10 spend for the 10p, i.e. an extra spend of £1.00 as opposed to just being 7p down, if you already have the £20 spend.

Horlicks Light Malt Chocolate Drink - 37p S 35p T (but it's 32p in A, and T were previous 4 for £1.00 on it, which equated to 25p each (10p less than T's current price, buy you have to buy 4) and so Avs T in 4s, 90p divided by four would have been cheaper per pack).

Righto folks, I'll see you on the new thread I suspect. Good night...:):):D

These are in my T along with some blossom hill/Lindt Truffles. I just keep checking them by having them scanned(no self scanner) and having to make excuses as to why I don't want to buy them. One day I might get lucky or even luckier if I'm on here when someone else confirms them...nobody says it's easy.:)
