I think it looks fantastic! I'm also due September and my friend threw a baby shower and made a nappy cake and it was equally as fab... but the special thing about it is that you put time and effort into making something personal!

Can I ask those who do make them roughly how much does it cost to make one?! I have 4 friends who are due August/September and wanted to make some instead of trawling the shops and buying something they already have.

I really need to do it on a tight budget as we are just starting out on a debt free journey!

I've just Googled for 'Nappy Cake' and was shocked at how much they are charging for them. £85???? But it does include a pair of leather shoes for the baby! :rotfl:
My daughter's friend is expecting her first baby in November, I do knitting and crochet and might make a few things and incorporate them into it.
I think it's a lovely idea - much nicer that wrapping presents.
They are having a girl so at least I know the colour scheme too! I'm quite looking forward to having a go!

I know this thread a bit old and your gift was given in June but just had to say that it looks superb. I would be chuffed to bits if someone gave me something like that.

the nappy cakes are fabulous and have inspired me to make one for my friend who is due in 2 month, i hope mine will look as good as all the ones i have seen on here:T

Just found this thread and what a great idea !! My daughter is expecting in Oct and i've already started getting "things" and nappies being one of them.

This is a so much more fun way of giving :-)
