ive been loking for ideas for a pregnant friend going to save this thread0 -
Found this thread by accident and wanted to say what a brilliant original idea you have had and created! I personally love it and you may very well have solved a christening gift idea for myself and a friend who have been invited to a uni friends baby's christening in July!
I can't thank you enough for that alone as we were both struggling with what to get / do. I had thought of a charm bracelet which could grow with my friends little girl, but I now think your idea is much more practicable, nicer too!
Well done you for your original and inspiring idea. Thanks for sharing it with us. :j0 -
I would have loved a gift like this. I was given so many clothes (and he was a 4th baby so I had plenty anyway!) that he never got to wear half of them. Us new mum's always need nappies!
Just out of interest, how do you stick the layers together?

Just out of interest, how do you stick the layers together?
right you need plenty of elastic bands!! you need to roll each of the nappies individualy and scure with an elastic band then in the middle of the first 2 layers you put somthing like baby talc or a baby bottle something round and quite tall. then you arrange the first layer round that. The talc/baby bottle will still be sticking out the top so you do the next ring of nappies round that obviously one less ring so you get the tiers. The top layer stands alone and is just place on the top.
You can fill it with anything you can hang dummies, bibs, clothes etc.... off it if you wanted to do a different one. I choose a toiletries theme so used soaps, shampoo, lotion, baby bath talc, wet wipes.. For a 3 tier cake that size it uses about 65 size 3 nappies.0 -
i think its fabulous and may copy it for a freind who is expecting next month.
However, when I read the post initially I was wondering how you got that icing effect - obviously too early in the morning for mer.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
