Do I pay for travel time?

    My reading of the legislation is that you can - the minimum wage only applies to the average over the wage period, which is why if you are on a higher wage unpaid overtime is legal, but not on a minimum one.

    Assuming that you are currently paying over the minimum wage when taking travel into account this reads to me like a psychology problem. Would your employees rather be paid £9 and hour for 3 hours and then do 1 hour unpaid travel or £6.75 an hour for 4 hours? Would paying for travel motivate them to feel appreciated and work harder, or would they make less effort to get between jobs fast? Perhaps working towards a scheme where they are paid the minimum wage for travelling, but the higher wage for their skilled cleaning work would be fair and appreciated all round.
