Standard Life PPI

  • Right, I've written to my broker and have had a response from a company called SESAME who state they are responsible for investigating complaints against my broker however they can not investigate this as the PPI was not sold to us by the broker! We only dealt with the broker and had no contact with anyone else regarding the mortgage so believe as the mortgage was arranged by the broker they should be responsible and as we did not deal with STANDARD LIFE directly where do we go from here??

Sesame are a compliance network for IFAs and brokers. They handle the complaints of member firms.

Ask Standard Life who the selling agent was. They will have name and address on file. Normally, a broker would not use the same insurer for MPPI as they would the mortgage provider. So, the fact that both the mortgage and the insurance are with Standard Life does suggest it is possible, even probable, that Standard Life have some involvement in this.

  • Ok, just one problem Standard Life mortgages don't exist anymore as they were purchased by Barclays, so who do I contact, who would have the records??

You wouldnt ask the mortgage provider. You ask the insurance company that is providing the product. I read your post to suggest that Standard Life were the insurance company providing the MPPI. Is that correct? if not, whom?

  • Thats the bit I don't know! I do know I had PPI attached to the mortgage accounts but don't have the information to say who sold it to us or who was providing it as I was blissfully unaware it was on there in the first place!

MPPI is nearly always monthly premium and a standalone direct debit. Who did the direct debit go to?

What makes you think you had PPI?
