Private Parking ticket is all wrong

I have just got a private parking ticket with a time and day when I was actually at the place mentioned, but didn't realise it was not a loading bay for the next door business. The "ticket" sent has my registration but a picture of a completely different vehicle, clearly showing a different vehicle reg no. Should I ignore the ticket as it is not my vehicle in the picture? If I appeal it can they then produce a picture of my vehicle or should I wait until the last minute when they may have deleted all other pictures which might show my vehicle?
I tend to think that their incompetence is my good luck but don't know how to handle this.

Which parking company ? And is it in England or Wales ? Not that you should pay it no matter what part of the UK , its just you have options nowWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Its in London and its ParkDirect - I do know its not the same as a council ticket. I was tempted to just ignore but I am worried I have to "follow the proper procedures" then appeal to the ombudsperson about how incompetent these b*s are0

Hmmm is it these ?

I like that Chrome gives me a malware warning by following that link lol0

No just got scared by the malware warning myself - its not them its Parkdirectuk0

They don't appear to be on the bpa aos list, which means you shouldn't contact them at all as they can't get your RK details from the dvla
If its these http://www.parkdirectuk.com/ they are lying and not on the aos as far as I can see http://www.britishparking.co.uk/AOS-MembersWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Sorry to disagree but they do seem to be on the list. As they have already contacted the OP then an appeal is in order as they have not proved the op was there as the pic is of another car. Keep all mail safe.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Just shows the worthlessness of the "pictures" they take.
Would be laughed out of court if they were foolish enough to take you there0 -

Don't know how to handle this? But every thread on here is about this situation with fake PCNs. As long as this was in England/Wales the advice is clear, look at any other threads and you'll see it repeated:

Don't point out their error, don't mention what happened that day, don't mention who was driving - just do a 'legal challenge' response as mentioned on other threads which give a link to a template on the Parking Cowboys website. When you've read some advice on other threads and looked at the links given every single day on here you will be able to draft your own version (never copy a template exactly). You need to spend some time reading up on this scam and what to do.
I am not linking anything here except the forum itself as it's clear to me you do need to simply read some other threads and take in the general advice here - not just get a random template linked yet.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
