Cheers for the info, very much appreciated.

PompeyPete - that looks a cracking place and will go on the list to do I think!

LazyJack - Aye, it looks that way - which is handy with 15 lads who can sup their beer pretty fast.

jpsartre - thanks for that link, the 10L looks tempting!

Doshwaster - superb information. From our previous trip there, we tried to keep away from said Irish bars who seem to be at least double anywhere else. Any idea on prices in the Beer Museum? Look some rather strong beers on top at 12%

Tomby1 - cheers again. The credits look a steel, working out at approx £1.20 a pint.

As someone who lives in Prague, you will be paying this amount in Old Town and the other tourist trappy places like wenceslas square. But outside of these areas food and drink is still pretty cheap. You can get awesome local czech beer for 30 - 40 czk a lot of places while obviously imports are more expensive.

Cheers Expart - that will keep us away from Old Town and Wenceslas Square then.

As someone who lives there, what would you recommend in terms of activities for such a large group?

From memory (which is a little fuzzy for obvious reasons) the prices were reasonable, around 40 Kr for a beer. Go to the English/Irish bars and you'll pay closer to 100 Kr, although O'Che's (an "Irish Cuban" pub) near the river isn't too bad and a good place to watch any football or rugby.

Another good area for beer hunting are the streets on on the other side of the river across the Charles Bridge where prices are lower.

My girlfriend and I have only been here 6 months but I will try my best haha.

It depends on what you are after and how many days you are here really. Prague has loads of old, unspoiled architecture and sites to see. Charles Bridge is quite nice and the castle grounds are worth a look if you would be into that thing. Lots of museums too.

Of course, two of the main why large groups of guys come here is two main reasons: beer and girls. The beer is great and cheap, aslong as you don't drink in the main tourist areas and walk 5-10 mins to another place with a stop of at an absintherie along the way ;). Prague is a compact city so you are never really far away from anything and the transportation is generally great, frequent and cheap. I personally prefer the metro over the trams but I know other people who are the opposite. There are bars and cafes all over the place so you will have plenty of choice. there are some good clubs here too, see here www(dot)expat(dot)cz/prague/article/prague-entertainment/prague-best-clubs/ this is also a good website to find out more about prague. There are a number of "cabaret" clubs, using the word cabaret loosely, but it is up to you if you want to venture down that route!!

Some other things would be maybe doing shooting. Some gun ranges you don't need a gun licence to shoot and welcome stag parties but make sure you check about the licence before hand. Another website with more activities
    www(dot)pragueexperience(dot)com/sports_activities/stag_activities.asp

EDIT: wouldn't let me post direct urls, sorry.

Thanks for that, really grateful for your time in posting.

Doshwaster - I never ventured over the other side of the bridge last time I went, so that is definitely on the cards this time. Cheers mate.

Expart - yet more brilliant info, thanks pal. Like I said previously, I've been there before but that was a basic beer only weekend so it would be nice to do some other things - what they are, all depends on the lads I'm going with, but I'd imagine cabaret clubs will be on the list! I'll take a look at the websites, cheers.

I've noticed the Praha derby has been played at the end of September over the last few years so hoping that will be the case this year. Having visited to Eden stadium last time to watch Slavia, I'd love to do it again!

It's such a beautiful City, that doing some 'tourism' bits and pieces will be a cert. We're there for 4 nights/5 days so plenty of time to give the beer a rest - getting far too old for consecutive days!

    Thanks again!
  • No problem. Have a good trip!

I used to live there so my recommendation is simple:

Get !!!!ed up, be aggressive, get thrown out of bars, give the English a bad name and probably get ripped off somewhere along the line.

When I was there (2008 so I accept it was a few years ago) a lot of bars / clubs had signs in English stating that groups of 4 men or over would not be admitted.

Such is our wonderful reputation that large group of idiots have given us.

Tell me, you're not all going in specially printed t-shirts are you?

Actually, I saw almost no trouble from stag and hen parties while I was there. Maybe the economy is making them stop at home. Of the large drinking parties I did see I would say that there more from Germany than anywhere else.

I was there during Euro2008 when the Czech beat Switzerland 1-0 and the locals were cheering on Wenceslas Square only to be confronted by a bunch of English tw@ts in matching t-shirts who'd clearly had far too much to drink trying outshout them with "Ingerland" even though we weren't in the tournement and ended up getting cleared out by the police.

During my time there (2 years) I saw this type of behaviour time and time again, on a weekly basis and never saw it from any other nationality. Yes Americans get boistrous but never violent. we have a problem and this guy going off as one of fifteen will probably do nothing to enhance our reputation.

There's a remarkable statue near the castle by local artist David Cerny of a skinhead Englishman urinating (it's a fountain into a small pond) on the street. That's how we're seen. Sorry.
