Best broadband-only deals

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knew of any good broadband deals.

We need unlimited internet and around 30mbps download speed.

Currently on 23.50 but been offered 17.50 (from Virgin) and 14.50 for 6 months and then 24.50 for six months from Sky.

Thank you!

What's plus.net offering in your post code?

I find them to be quite good...and cheap. £10 for 6 months then £20 ongoing plus £14 line rental.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

So you pay 24 and then 34? That's much too much for us (we don't have a landline)

Worked it out as £18 for my postcode + extra fees.

    Thanks!

Well without a landline, and paying line rental, you won't get any ADSL broadband service-VM cable is your only option. If you want 30Mbps speeds, then ADSL will not do it anyway-your only non-cable option is FTTC.
Since broadband is exchange-specific, and we don't know what yours is, do an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your LLU and FTTC options. Both Sky and Plusnet may be offering FTTC in your area, if BT are.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

macman has it spot-on. You NEED line rental.

A cheap option may be a cheap broadband only deal (Plusnet Unlimited £9.99, half-price 12 months) and Primus £11.39. However, PN may only do the bb half-price if you take homephone (£13.99, but note this DOES NOT include CLID by default, unlike BT).

This option will only be ADSL though, max 22Mbps (dependent on distance from your exchange). Check Samknows as macman described, and also BT's speed guide http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome

  • Hi thanks...

We have cable and do not need a phone line.

I apologise, i'm not very technical! I think I will stick with Virgin, £17.50 seems good to me!

If you don't need a phone line, this sounds like your best option.
