Courier

My son has a item for sale on ebay for £1300. A guy calls him yesterday and said if he transfers cash to my sons bank account and the buyer arranges a courier can he have the item.
The item is advertised as collection only due to size.
Is this a scam ? can the buyer reverse the bank transaction ?
Thanks.

Didn't want to read and run. Sorry I can't find the thread but this sounds similar to something else I read on here where the person had gone through with this and lost both the item and the money. With it being an expensive item I would err on the side of caution personally.

Don't do it - other person will raise a dispute after they have received the item. They will get their money back and your son will be left with no item and no money.
    Insist on cash on collection.

It's a bank transfer not PayPal!

OP, a UK to Uk bank transfer is perfectly safe and cannot be recalled. To be 100% safe allow the courier the next working day after receipt of the money.

Regardless of 'correct' advice if something feels like a scam, then walk away.

The scam would be that you will get a fake email from 'your bank' telling you that you have received funds but they are bing held until you confirm despatch. The other scam with this is the buyer suddenly finding they have a bank problem, and will have to pay using PayPal or Western Union instead. If they get you excited enough by the money and then flustered enough by their courier being on its way etc- you might just be expected to fall for it.

Thanks soolin. I have told my son what you said.Plus the guy buying it lives in Northern Ireland so its going cost him to get it shipped over there<Motorbike>
My son is keen to sell it to him .

In that case I suspect that my suggestion of the bank transfer not working and funds being sent by another means was likely. Reel you in with a lovely safe payment method, then an hour before the courier was due suddenly have problems meaning they would have to pay funds into escrow and release them once you wave goodbye to the bike--and of course no money is forthcoming

NOOOOOO don't sell a motorbike by courier, I have sold on eBay since 2008 please ,,, think about it,,, why would someone buy something worth that money and not even view it and check its all ok, please don't sell it via PayPal, bank transfer etc,,, cash on collection only for high value items, ask yourself why does this guy want to transfer £1300 by bank transfer and not view the item.... It's probably a bank account which has been haked..

    PLEASE PLEASE DON'T DO IT

The next thing they will say is like soolin said,,, the last minute they will say sorry wont go through but the courier will bring the cash !!!!! Or they want it shipped and then pay you.

Please it will be scam, don't give out your bank details to anyone.. Especially someone who sounds very suspicious,

Why oh why would someone send that amount of cash for something they have seen or tested,,

    AVOD AVOID AVOID !!!!!!

Your son will sell his bike to someone who will do cash on collection it may take longer but please don't do it
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec
