Rip Off Britain?

That is the very reason why this country is becoming such a grey, drab, over-regulated place.
The UK IS expensive and apathetic. When you get a lousy expensive meal - complain - don't just nod and mumble "it's fine". When you get lousy service, be it in Tesco or your GPs - complain ! You are paying for it.
As for, 'What has Australia ever achieved' ? where would you like me to start ?
Cricket, Olympic athletes, Tennis champions AND at least they have a Prime Minister who has the guts to stand up to that tin pot dictator Mugabe;
and the weather's better !
Ok maybe not turning the tele off....however the dark shadows of the media are used to manipulate us...
Remember WMD to strike London within 45 minutes launched from Iraq? The fact that there could be armeggedon within seconds?
What utter lies! We believed the hysteria and gave the go ahead for a mass slaughter of hundreds and thousands of innocent people.
Thats why you turn the tele off from such utter lies and false propoganda.
Granted it is very difficult to filter the lies from the truth though.0 -

If you can't distinguish truth and lies between Lancaster bombers being found on the moon and Manchester United winning the Premiership perhaps you are right !
You may have believed the hysteria about WMD - "we" didn't ! Most of this c**p was in the Sun, run by Murdoch - presumably trying to get a peerage, a knighthood, an a free meal at No10 ! all at the same time.
What I found sad about this was not the number of people that believed it, but those who KNEW it was total garbage and kept quiet, for the sake of their well paid jobs. Not only politicians but the Military as well.0 -
Some people will moan wherever they are, even if they don't realize or recon so.
They'll think the grass is greener somewhere. I bet if they go there within a couple of months they'll soon be moaning about something. I think it's more a persons nature rather than where they reside or the way they perceive the worlds treating them. I also think that 'state of mind' has a direct effect on what happens to them, probably through more non verbal communication ie body language, facial expression etc.
I've often noticed these 'things' always seem to happen to the same people. Whilst others actually seem to have an enjoyable life/positive attitude in exactly the same circumstances.0 -
I agree with your point, Palomino, that if people would simply do what's required of them, their basic jobs, you wouldn't have a long list of things to rectify.

So, are you saying that if the people who lost all of their Christmas money through Farepak had been happier it wouldn't have happened?
The one thing that I have noticed is that the people who have had a hard life or lots of problems are far more sympathetic, make much better friends, and have an incredible ability to laugh in the face of adversity.

if thats the case the bank shuold refund all charges if they are at fault
I agree with you, unfortunately, the bank doesn't and although they admit being at fault, it is my responsiblity to fix the error.
if you have the recepit proving you made the payment in time, there is a chance that the company wont penalise you
Too late, the first I knew of it was when I received my next statement.
your call, no one forced you to give the car away
Not the issue-the fact that they were unable to fit an exhaust to one of the most basic of cars is.
speak to royal mail, set up a PO box, keep track of when payments are due, i know my virgin media is due approx the 29th of the month or if its for credit cards set up a dd for minimum payments least then it will get there on time and you can still overpay
I don't have an issue with the occasional item going missing, it's when it's a regular occurrance that it's not good enough. Why do we have a first class post if it doesn't guarantee anything?
thought you said you had given the car away, or is this another one - anyway i dunno much what was arranged with the *faulty fuel*
It was contaminated fuel, and despite many letters, e-mails and phone calls I am still awaiting a response.
find out whats casuing the hold up or threaten to take them to the law society
Have been taking advice from the law society for 3 years now, still without result.
sorry to hear about your problems but how it can be classed as rip off britain i dunno when a few steps and most of this would be sorted
What would the few steps be? I seem to have exhausted your ideas.0 -

Nope, my post you quoted had nothing about that in! Nor did your original.
Do you mean you have an incredible ability to laugh in the face of adversity? Whats this thread about then with wanting a growling icon and "I've had enough" in caps!0 -

As someone who actually bothered to read the report (work related - I do have a life) it it never said that. It was 45 mins to release battlefield chemical weapons - quite plausable considering they were used against Iran & the Marsh Arabsdangeroussports wrote: »Remember WMD to strike London within 45 minutes launched from Iraq? Yawn....
So what? The papers didnt say that. Whats your point? That it was plausible.....remember all the chemical weapons were out of date since the US and UK sold them to him remember!
Please dont try to fool people with your 'special report'. Too many lives have been lost through 'special reports' and armchair generals pushing toy tanks around in a sandpit playing "this is most likely to happen....blah blah" on television.0
