Lidals freebees

I went into my local lidals this evening and they had trays and trays of bread on their window counter, kingsmill 50/50,teacakes, burger rolls, ALL FOR FREE, :j although it was on its date, it is still soft and fresh and freezes so i had to help myself to a tray of it. Did get a few strange looks from some of the other customers though.:rolleyes: We go through a loaf a day with kids sandwhiches and so on.
Is this a nationwide thing or is it just down to a few stores that have overordered. It is a shame that the other big 4 dont do the same,:rotfl:

This has been posted before, but some time ago. It,s good to remind people tho, and good for newbies. I personally have never seen it, begging to think people post just to get at me. LOL

i have gone to my local lidls and everytime i have gone the rack that has free things have all been taken lol thats just my luck though ,good find its better then them throwing it away xxx

People fill up their trolleys with lidls freebies where i live, even though the sign says 3 items per customer.:eek: Greedy!

It just depends who works in your store. Each item has a T date. If you look closely at the label you will see this. I think it was 2 days on bread when i worked there. If stock rotation is good you will not get much. When the bread goes out if the date is closer than 2days it can not be sold and most managers give it away for free. The bread should be done in the morning. T1 means it is fine to sell on the previous day from expiry(if i can remember correctly)

Grrrrr.....none here...I remember when we first moved to where we are at the minute they had huge stocks of free jams, and since then (about 5 or 6 years ago now) nothing atall! :'(
Must be down to the managers discretion im guessing?

I work at Lidl

There policy is now to throw away bread etc with the sell by date 2 days later.
Obviously it looks like some managers have took it upon themselves to give it away instead of throwing it (which seems sensible to me).
Where I work it all gets thrown in a box,deleted from stock,and the box is capped and shrink wrapped.So even the staff dont a get a look-in.
This to me is absolute madness !!! But its the way it is in most stores apparently
