freeing can be caused by fluff or overheating due to fluff, or a duff fan.
this vid disassembles a toshiba in 11 mins. Just take your time and note where the long and short screws go

On some laptops it can be quite an involved process to disassemble enough components to get access to the fan. I've found that a can of compressed air squirted into the vent is quite effective at clearing out dust.0 -

major misconception - all this tends to do is move the fluff away from the fan (if you're lucky) but doesn't remove it from either within the laptop or in most cases from within the fan housing itself.
If blocked/noisy fan and/or hot laptop, the only decent thing to do is strip it and clean it out PROPERLY to avoid long-term damage - furry slugs love living inside laptops.
Chances are the heatsink compound (or thermal paste, etc, lots of names for same thing) between the heatsink and processor will need replacing while it's dismantled if the lappy's been running warm for a while...
LAPtop - one of the greatest misnomas in the English language...not to be used on cushions, duvets, carpets, laps, etc.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
