Huawei Ascend G510 - £130 PAYG (Vodafone)
Consumers in the UK that are customers of Vodafone will have access to the Huawei Ascend G510 from tomorrow, April 12th and this impressive looking device can be had for only £130 via pay as you go, or free on contracts starting at £13 per month.
For this really low price the handset still packs some impressive features that include a 4.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 400, which is powered by a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. This is paired with 512MB of RAM running the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system straight from the box.
Other features include 4GB of internal memory that can be expanded by another 32GB via microSD card, 5-megapixel rear facing camera, 0.3-megapixel front camera, DTS Audio, 5 seconds high speed boot, FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA 3G, Bluetooth, and a1750 mAh battery packed into a device that is only 9.9mm thick weighing 150grams.

For a £130, it's not an SG4 but seems a decent budget handset - if it starts at this price, surely will be sub-£100 sooner rather than later.

There is a whole raft of 'pretty good' phones arriving for that price - the Nokia 520 for £99 is pretty good as well depending on what you want to do.
Yes i agree just had a look at a video of the windows phone that don't look to bad for a budget phone
i'm quite tempted to buy one to see how good it is not had a windows phone for quite a few years now.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.

Effectively double the price of the G300. Some improvements certainly but I am not sure they would persuade me to part with £130 PAYG... £99 maybe .
changes.. half inch bigger screen but lower pixel density. Dual core A9's cpu so not quantum fast.
Slightly bigger battery probably offset by bigger screen / dual cores.
Half a millimetre thinner.
A front camera, but probably won't work with Skype as Skype are slow/not bothered to add many models.
Jelly Bean Android - the jury's still out on that one!
Seems to have lost its compass sensor? but does seem to do video in 720p now which is very welcome though.
So yes nice enough but no big leaps making me want to spend double and I am not even sure I want a 4.5" phone, 4" with a good display seems optimal for me between portability and usability.0 -
Looks to me like the nearly new G300s on the voddy site have sold out and they are now asking £120 for the brand new G300 so just £10 less than the G510. To be fair we only got the G300 for half this price due to a bit of a 'glitch/special offer' at Very/Isme/Tesco. Should we be able to do the same with the G510 it would be £100...and that is a total bargain. (i actually think it will be at £99 before you know it anyway).0

It is showing £180! Where do phonesreview get their information from?

Every review site said it was going to be £130 - so if there was a miscommunication it is a pretty wide one!

Having looked at this in comparison to the Huawei W1, I know that this is an android and the W1 is a W8 but the overall stats aren't that different when you over-look the 4/4.5 difference in screen size- even the battery on the W1 is better and the cost is £70 less (£180 for this on Vodaphone or £109 for the W1 with 02)
Still feel disappointed by the 512MB RAM on either of them though

The W1 did arrive at £130 but has been reduced to £110 probably due to the arrival of the Nokia 520. Plus I get the feeling manufacturers feel they have to be very keen with pricing on Windows phones to help grow the market. But the W1 is an absolute steal at £110. IF you want a Windows phone, of course.
But £180 for the G510 is very disappointing imo. Not that much more would get you the 8gb Nexus 4 and that's in a whole different league.0
