:think:
For 300t+Data Ovivo PAYG is the cheapest option. They give 150t+Data for free. Extra 150 texts bundle costs £5.
Tesco mobile do 250+5000+500 for 12x£7.50;
Talkmobile do 300+3000+750 for 6x£8;
Virgin do 150+Unltd+500 for 1x£7.
Three 100 mins + 3000 three minutes (my family..) + 3000 texts + 1GB - £7
But I have to admit it's a retention deal.
Plus I don't have to worry about my mobile number I'm using for years and all my clients know it.0 -
Harald,
The three deal sounds much better for your needs assuming that you need a huge number of texts.
OP needs only 300 texts per month, so the fishtext and Ovivio combination may be the cheapest for him/her.
However if you were prepared to move your family to Ovivo and assuming you mainly text with family members, Ovivo may work out free for you as there is unlimited free Ovivo to Ovivo phone calls and texts.
You could also get people you frequently text with to use Whatsapp instead of texting as this is also free.
Porting your number to Ovivo (or to any other network) is straightforward, so there is no issue about your number changing.0 -
After 4 months with them I have not noticed this yet. That's why my main concern is that they can go tits up.
There are targeted ads on their website, and they probably get loads of people checking it out, plus people with Ovivo sims revisiting it to topup or to check their balance or whatever so they may still be doing ok.
The fact that they have good CS is a sign that they are not about to go bust - if money is tight they would be cutting corners by now.0 -
Thank you for your responses. I didn't realise there were so many options and I'm going to stay away from PAYG. I think I will go onto the Tmobile 30 day rolling deal at £10 while I decide what to do long term (ie. getting phone unlocked and getting the right Pay monthly deal). I need to give my notice 30 days before my contract ends which is coming up next week.
It will be nice to be out of this contract!
Thanks again MoneySavers :money:I love a bargain and saving money! I don't have any debts and mortgage repaid in 20200 -
I would like some help and advice I currently have a few mnths left on a sim only nano del with 3 £6.90 a month 500mb internet 200 minutes 5000 texts i am finding that this is far too much for my light usage. I probaby only send about 300 texts talk for an hour a month and use about 100mb a month as have internet at home would a pay as you go simcard with three be better for me and how does pay as you go work?0

First you top up your account .marmiteemma wrote: »...how does pay as you go work?
Then your balance is gradually used to pay for the airtime you actually use.
If the balance gets zero you can only accept incoming calls.
Often you can use the balance to buy bundles, that usually last for 1 month and are similar to Pay Monthly allowances.
I think you'll struggle to find 60+300+100 cheaper than you are paying now.0 -
Is it better Grumbler, if you are a light user to be a pay as you go user or have a sim only contract at £6.90 a month which is cheaper?0
-
For heavy users pay monthly is usually cheaper, but some PAYG with bundles are very similar to Pay Monthly by both functionality and the price. E.g. http://giffgaff.com/goodybags
For very light users PAYG is obviously cheaper. 150+150+400 are free at Ovivo.
Between heavy and very light it depends.
Your 300 texts are your 'bottle neck' that determines the cost of any bundle on PAYG. Without a bundle they will cost at least £12 on PAYG:

I have an unlocked iphone 5 on three 12 months £6.90 and am not even making a dent in the large amount of texts minutes and internet i have to use was wondering whether to give my cancellation notice 30 days and go three pay as you go (free 4G) or to try and reduce the contract to £.00 a month for less minutes texts and internet than i curently have a package to suit my needs more want to stay with thre as i have a signal booster box at home and they are advertising free 4G where as EE charge you extra so are Voda and 02 and the iphone 5 wont work talk mobile offer minutes texts and may be internet for £2.50 a month may be three would match0
