I've banked with Nationwide for years and have never had any problems. I've always found the customer service to be very good, particularly at the call centre – very friendly and helpful. I find their online banking facility to be very good as well.
A couple of years ago when Santander were offering £100 to switch to their current account, I decided to go for it but instantly regretted my decision. It took them 4 months to switch my account and I had to chase them numerous times to find out what was going on and why it was taking so long. I immediately went back to Nationwide as I was so unhappy with the whole experience. I wasn't at all impressed with Santander's customer service back then – maybe they have improved since 2011 but IMO Nationwide knocked spots off them at the time.
I would happily recommend Nationwide, especially with their FlexDirect account offering 5% interest for the first year.0
